thinking about how hiccup holds his hand out to toothless and then closes his eyes and trusts toothless not to eat his hand and lets toothless choose whether or not he interacts and toothless hesitates for a bit before putting his face in hiccups hand and trusts him not to hurt him. and it is a consensual optional interaction based on mutual trust and understanding. and then the first line we hear after this scene is gobber saying "and with one twist, he took my hand and swallowed it whole" and the Parallels and the Themes and the Narratives im running in circles in my room

was watching httyd in my head on the bus earlier like that girl that had shrek memorized and could watch it anytime and i just realized that the gobber “a dragon will always, always, go for the kill” hiccup “so why didn’t you?” about toothless not killing hiccup is directly referenced later on in the movie when hiccup says “why couldn’t i have killed that dragon when i found him in the woods. it would’ve been easier for everyone.” and astrid goes “yup! the rest of us would’ve done it. so why didn’t you?” about hiccup not killing toothless. idk where im going w this smt smt two sides of the same coin smt smt this couldnt have happened with any other viking or any other dragon and it always was hiccup and toothless it always had to be hiccup and toothless

As a gift to my cousin for her birthday, my sister GM’d a (sorta-kinda-thankfully-super-simplified-version) DnD game, based around the HTTYD series, for her and I joined in on the fun. It was set 50 years after the second movie and the girl was my character, Blink, and the boy was her twin brother, Whisper. They were Hiccup and Astrid’s children. The game was a lot of fun, though a bit rushed at the end cause we had been playing all night. It was a one time only, no encore type of game but I just couldn’t part with her, so her she is <3

So I've spent the past few days watching the entire HTTYD series in chronological order and let me tell you, HTTYD 2 was a super disappointing end to a series that I've come to really really enjoy. I'm just happy that apparently there will be more of seasons Dragons and another movie. Cause if HTTYD 2 was the ending I got stuck with I'd be pissed.

I think the thing I love the most about hiccstrid is how natural it feels. It doesn't feel awkward or forced at all, and with all that's going on in the movie, it doesn't even feel like it's brought to the front but more left chilling out on the side. 

It's not like the writers are saying "LOOK HERE! these two are in lOVE!!! pay attention to what a cUTE COUPLE THEY AREEE" but rather "btdubs these two are totally cute together okay carry on"

and that's why i absolutely LOVE them as a couple.

i guess you could also argue that stalka is the main pairing of the movie but that's another post.
