Yosuke: Good job, partner!
Yu: Thanks for the help, Yosuke! Come again any time.
Kanamin: Waaaait a sec, are you two a couple?
KANAMIN WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY
EDIT: Apparently it's Tamamin that says it, my bad!

"if you dare give up on yourself, if you want to die so badly, I'll kill you myself!" is a very good top tier flavour but also one in which I SWEAR is usually said between two characters who have already spent a lot of time together, and is a sentiment that affirms the strength of their bond, that "no one else can destroy you but me", that "I refuse to let you lose to anyone else so dont you dare surrender now"
For narukami yu - who is used to nothing but brief, transient relationships where he kept a careful, friendly distance - to say that to hanamura yosuke so shortly after their meeting... devastating actually. (Also I feel robbed that this was not a conversation the game? Atlus wtf wyd???)
There are a hundred other ways to convey encouragement without "I will kill you myself", and they do have to do that over and over again with the rest of the IT, but there really isn't anything like this.
I think it's a testament to how invested they became in each other from the get go; Yosuke might be the one to verbalise it first and call Yu his aibou, but within mere DAYS of meeting Yosuke, Yu was already in deep. They've probably had two or three conversations before this but Yu is already this committed towards Yosuke. Like what even were their interactions before this? Yosuke crashing into a telephone pole, Yosuke getting his nuts bashed in, Yosuke rolling around in a trashcan, Yosuke welcoming him to Inaba, Yosuke's determination to do what is right by Saki even if it meant putting his own life at risk-
Anyway Yosuke idk where you get off in thinking you're unwanted, Yu took one look at you and decided that he was going to tie his life to yours.
Ok new dumb souyo idea but but what if post canon post college au where they're both comfortably in a relationship and living together and yosuke's a science teacher at a high school while yu is a high flier corporate lawyer or something idk
Anyway yosuke's a great teacher because he's actually so good at explaining things to kanji but he's also so good at empathizing with others? So of course he's good at his job! BUT he's also the type that brings his guitar to school and writes songs to help his kids remember chemical properties on the periodic table or complex physics formulas etc!! So he's the Cool Teacher too! BUT he's also good looking and dresses nicely and just funny and playful and yeah tldr his students love him his colleagues fear (and adore him
So first valentine's day at the school Yosuke finds himself receiving a dozen bags of chocolates from admiring students and everyone alike, and he's like oh ok? Haha wow?? And he brings them home and jokes like "wow yu I think this is the first time I've received more valentine's day chocolates than you"
And Yu's like "haha you deserve it yosuke I'm so happy for you!" 🥰
And then on white day yu shows up at yosuke's school with a giant bouquet of a hundred roses or something and when yosuke sees him Yu's just like "hello partner! Shall we go home together today? 🥰🥰"
Crit hit!!!
Now that I've pretty much played most of the persona dancing games, here are some of my favourite things
1. Yosuke blowing a kiss to Yu as he leaves the stage is pretty much the only time a kiss is ever involved. I didn't get rise as a partner often but I don't think even she did one? Congrats on being special Yosuke!! Souyo truly canon. This is the most important takeaway I have.
2. The velvet room siblings are so funny together actually. I think Lavenza and Theodore seem to get along the best. Lavenza getting frustrated when Elizabeth and Margaret one up her during her dance is so funny, but Theodore seems like the picture of a gentleman. He also gets bullied by Elizabeth and Margaret. Atlus pls release a spin-off focusing on them. Even as a dlc or a mini game or whatever idc just give me something
3. Seriously Yosuke why the kiss. Most people just walk off stage. Yosuke please. Yosuke what secrets are you hiding.
4. Akechi expresses interest in wearing a butler outfit. Coupled with his line about calling Ren "master", Akechi really is a top contender for fruitiest male character along with Yosuke.
5. P4D is truly the most superior persona dance game amongst all three and I'm glad I paid extra to make sure I got it. It's the story and the extra content but I also just love Yosuke's and Yu's songs they're so addictive? Also the way in which Yusuke's idol boy band dance style contrasts against Yu's oldschool disco-esque dance style is SO FUNNY and they still manage to make it work. Akechi and Theodore were also great though. Unfortunately p5d felt really underwhelming. Sad times.
6. I kept flubbing on mitsuru's songs in p3d because I kept looking at her instead. I'm glad mitsuru kirijo is not a real person because I would not be able to function otherwise.
7. Atlus's next money grabbing spin off game should just be a persona dress up game. Let me dress up yosuke and akechi. Atlus please listen to me I would give you so many monies you'll be set for the next ten fiscal years.
