Vaguely related, but for that matter... maybe those labels are pretty much useless in most ways? Like say, asexuality/aromanticism — I think that "I'm not interested in sexual relationships right now" or "I've never met anyone I wanted to marry" are all valid things to say, but there is something to the attitude of "this is how I certainly am at the core and will always be" in all manifestations that feels premature at any point — and the idea of "discovering your orientation" in teenage years makes things worse. Who even has a comprehensive picture of their love life to date and to come in high school or soon after? And then there's other stuff like, do intrusive thoughts pattern attraction? Is all attraction romantic attraction, and is all romantic attraction the same kind of thing? Et cetera.
