Let's talk AU's. Any that you've written that you love? Any that you've read? Any that you really WANT to write? Or, what kinds of AU just floats your boat?

Happy (very belated) FFWF, friend!!! Ooooooh AU's! I have not written any AUs, though I would if the right idea struck me. I am, however, beta-reading for @a-d-curtis's AMAZING "Prince Aang" AU, The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, in which the Fire Nation finds Aang in the iceberg and... a lot of dark things happen. It's really an amazing story so far, full of intrigue and twists and even some sweet kataang fluff, although the next few chapters about to be published are full of PAIN.

I also really, really love YOUR AU, foxford!!! I'm really excited to see what you have in store next for Realign :)

A couple modern AUs that I really enjoyed have been The Gaang Takes Ba Sing Se University (unfinished), and Apartment 3E. I love @thinkingisadangerouspastime's boba shop AU, and @penguinsledder's councilwoman Katara and Hamilton AUs. I also ADORED Break Up With Your Girlfriend I'm Bored and Flashbulbs, Fake News, and Fallacies before both authors left the fandom abruptly and unexpectedly (the first was forced out by a stalker, the second I believe was dealing with a lot of things after their mother became ill). OH I'm also loving EGOT at the moment, where Aang is a pop star with hopes of achieving an EGOT and Katara is his Broadway tutor. Basically, I will read Aang and Katara falling in love in any and every universe as long as their characterizations feel right to me. Thanks for the ask!

and yes actually i do! i have very specific ways that i like to portray bridgette and félix - bridgette as a character from the miraculous pvs and félix being adrien’s cousin from the show.

i honestly don’t write them very often, pretty much just as side characters such as in bone tea or one of my drafts that ive been working on (except for that time i did a féloe oneshot), but my rules for portraying them are as such -

félix:

canon is wrong and he can be pleasant

most of the time i don’t write him as adrien’s cousin, rather who he was in the pv

he’s generally snooty but he’s got a soft spot that he likes to keep hidden - once you’ve softened him up though, he takes down his walls

bridgette:

she is not in canon so i can do whatever i want

but mostly i like her as a bubbly, intuitive, and empathetic sort of girl

she’s the kind of person who makes friends easily, takes care of people, and gets shy or guarded people to open up. i love her

I'm... I'm sorry 😭 I don't have a WIP in the works right now 😭😭 All of my writing time has to be devoted to essays bc school and my future and yeah😭😭😭

SO since I have literally nothing to offer you, why don't I talk about upcoming ideas I have for fics? :)

The prequel to The Dishonored Blade - This is a fic that I'm definitely going to write sometime in the future. If you haven't read "The Dishonored Blade"... well... all I'll say is that this will be a nice... aangsty supplement to TBD >:)

Kataang: The Artists' Collection - Not really an idea, it's just I've been thinking of supplementing (non-NSFW) Kataang artworks with ficlets. I've done a lot for @lanjunlazy and did one for @6doodlaang14, but I'm hoping to expand and diversify this collection with more artists' works. If you have any artists' works to rec, feel free to lmk!

Whumptober 2021 - Ha. Ha ha ha. Ha. Whumptober is ongoing right now, but due to my aforementioned... inability to write right now, I don't think I'll be able to tackle any of the rest on time 😭 BUT. I can write some afterwards, so be on the lookout for them 😉 (or not. depending on what you prefer.)

Anyways, I'm sorry I can't add more, Foxford 😭 I'm disappointed too.

When it comes to writing multi-chapter fics, I like to keep myself to a pretty strict upload schedule. Every week, same day, I upload another chapter. Because of this, I find it necessary to write a good chunk in advance, because real life doesn't always make room for me to pump out a chapter a week (although that is my goal).

Writing ahead also gives me time to consult with my amazing Beta @flameohotwife and incorporate her insightful direction and suggestions. Not to mention it gives me a chance to go back and change some details in earlier chapters that I haven't posted yet to better foreshadow or just build up to what will happen next.

Wish I could report that I am a fast writer, but I absolutely am not. I'm super slow. And I'm super picky. I also have distraction problems, so I need concerted, uninterrupted time to be able to write anything at all. So I admittedly spend a LOT of time each week working on the next chapter.

This is why I swore off long fics, because keeping the schedule is important to me, but it consumes my existence, LOL! (However, I clearly can't keep a promise to myself, since I'm in the middle of a long fic now, haha!)

happy ffwf!! i've honestly worked on fics wherever i can 😂 here's some of the weirder ones (i think? less typical, at least):

- the car (note: i was not the one driving adshkajks)

- in class (especially in middle school)

- a variety of relatives' houses ("what are you working on?" "... a story")

- sitting on a towel on my driveway

- probably a party or two

i think handwriting fics helps enable me to write wherever i want 😂

Hello! Happy ffwf! Oh I love this question! Boy do I ever!

So far, I have only written ATLA fanfiction (although I have a few Luca fics in the wings right now). And, while I mostly read ATLA fanfiction, I read a lot of Percy Jackson fic and *some* Harry Potter fic as well (although admittedly MUCH LESS of the latter since JK decided to do the thing™ last year). I have also saved a lot of SPOP, The Dragon Prince, and HTTYD fanfiction because those are fandoms I have been eyeballing a little bit but haven't broken into yet.

I have thought about writing The Dragon Prince, HTTYD, and Percy Jackson fanfiction before (and was even thinking of trying my hand at smut writing with a Percabeth oneshot), but I don't think I'll ever write Harry Potter fanfiction at this point.

YES. SO MUCH ALL THE TIME

off the top of my head are:

- hey, you

the entire premise of the fic (adrien beginning to think differently about marinette after having a dream where he was dating her) is based off of. the fact that about a week before i wrote the fic i had a dream that i was dating a close friend. yeah. the stages adrien goes through of “just because you have a dream about them doesn’t mean you like them!!” to “okay so maybe that was wrong-” is in fact based on real life

- bloodsucker

there’s a frat party scene where sokka and zuko dance along to mr. brightside by the killers and was in fact based on the single frat party i attended and actually thoroughly enjoyed; the crowd was mostly girls and all the music was 2010s party music. they played mr. brightside and it was absolutely gorgeous.

- bone tea

this fic was written spanning about two tumultuous years of my life, so honestly i can’t even begin to pinpoint how much of myself went in there. BUT the easiest example i can think of is when luka confesses to marinette - he’s completely fine with being rejected and kind of expected it, but marinette feels SO guilty and terrible about it. in high school, i was in luka’s shoes and confessed to a close friend with the intention of just getting my feelings out in the open so i could deal with them faster. i never expected him to reciprocate and i kind of didn’t even want him to because i valued his friendship, but he felt TERRIBLE. he kept saying how he wished he could make me happy and wished that he could be that guy for me, and i was like dude? chill it’s not that big of a deal. anyway i remembered how ridiculous that entire situation was and was like! cool im projecting this onto marinette now<3

- pride and participles

since in this fic, félix is tutoring chloe, i needed there to be something tangible for them to actually be studying, and obviously i needed for there to be something chloe complains about. my first thought was participles because i took four years of latin and i could not tell you what participles are if you begged on your knees for it. the worst part is? we talked about them all the time in class and my poor teacher had explained them to us over and over again, and neither me nor my classmates ever remembered what the heck they were. im so sorry i was a terrible student darrell. maybe one day i’ll understand participles but that day is definitely not today

so yeah! honestly there’s probably so much more - anything interesting happens in my life and im like OH this would be a fantastic fic concept or i need just a little detail and end up including something that i know in real life. im simple like that

💞 A fic that led to you making friends with the author

While I don't think I necessarily became friends right afterwards (I was new to Tumblr and shy and people were intimidating okay?), I definitely think my gateway into becoming friends with not only her but everyone in our Kataang corner was broken pieces still belong by @thinkingisadangerouspastime.

It's actually really funny, see. I was a newbie to Tumblr and searching through the anti Zvtara tag and leafing through other blogs and when I stumbled upon a meta post written by her. I was like, "Ooh, this is really good!" Looked up more of her metas, and eventually realized that she was the one who wrote one of my favorite fics ever.

So I sent her an ask, hung out on Tumblr for a while, got used to the ropes, wrote a little, and... as they say it, the rest is history.

😂 A fic that made you laugh out loud

Okay, well... this is also really funny, not only literally but ironically, because it's You're Wang Fire? by @itsmoonpeaches.

I’m just... I’m sorry, but this is an absolute gem of a fic, and making it even more funny is the fact that it’s Peaches - light murder, angst master Peaches - who wrote this.
