anyway I love love loveeeee ur blog and have been reading so much of the stuff you write and I heard through the grapevine you’d be willing to write for Alex Dunne
so like I was wondering if you’d be up for writing smth where maybe the reader is the younger sister of one of the McLaren F1 drivers maybe Lando cos of the whole FP1 thing so Alex would’ve been on his side of the garage and obviously they’re being very protective of their sister but she ends up developing a crush anyway or whatever
but again loveeeee ur blog and no pressure to write anything you don’t want to 🫶
pretty strange- a.dunne

Alright, it wasn’t your fault. Lando had fucked off to do whatever, Oscar was busy with his own set-up, and Alex was so charming. He had that soft smile and polite nature that made you (upsettingly) weak in the knees. Oscar wouldn’t tattle if you chatted to him, right?
“Hi,” you smiled, holding out your hand to be shook. “I’m Y/n.” He looked up at you with wide eyes, like he was shocked you’d ever introduce yourself to him. He didn’t move for a second, just stayed there, mouth wide open with surprised eyes.
He suddenly lurched back into motion, and he took your hand (which you’d placed directly in front of his face), stood to his full height (taller than you), and smiled, shaking your hand softly. “Alex,” he introduced. “Nice to meet you. I’ve heard all about you.” He admitted, trying to keep his cool and failing miserably. A lot of people have heard a lot about you, most people, in fact. Lando Norris’s sister shocks the racing world with a move to WEC, with an all-female team!? Or other headlines. Y/n Norris is showing off that racing is in her blood as she leads the championship. Or another. Youngest, first female, championship leaders, Cadillac is coming out on top! Everyone seemed to know you now, and you could barely wrap your head around it. You loved to race, of course, and you’d never want to do anything else. Watching your brother do it, showed you that you could too, especially considering you were already marginally smarter than him, so it was just a case of realising that F1 wasn’t your sport, but WEC was. You loved being in a team, especially your team. You didn’t think many people would understand, you’d been in a single-seater for half of your life, but it was what you wanted. You had other reasons too, mostly that you wouldn’t want to fight with Lando on-track. You knew you’d win, and you knew he’d hate you for it. So WEC it was.
Finally, he stopped shaking your hand, and you exchanged little chuckles. You cleared your throat. “I’ve heard all about you too,” you smiled, sharp as ever. He felt his heart skip a beat, but tried to ignore it. He hoped it was good things from Andrea or Zak, and not the terrible stories all of his F2 mates had to say about him, though he was aware of your closeness to Jak Crawford, and he gulped. “You’re pretty quick out there,” you admitted, sitting in the seat beside him. You felt that spark of electricity when your knee brushed his. “How does it feel?”
He let out a small sigh with a smile. “It’s amazing,” he nodded. That bright smile seemed to be surgically implanted on his face, but you didn’t mind it much. “And thank you,” there goes those manners again. “But you’re prettier- I mean-! I mean you’re pretty fast, pretty and fast… I mean I’m a big fan.” He somehow stopped the word-vomit coming out of his mouth as his eyes widened and a hand clapped over his mouth, embarrassment flushing his cheeks as you laughed beside him. Oscar jumped out of his car and gave you a pointed look, one that said ‘finish this now or lando will hear about it’. He was always nice like that, always gave you a little more leeway.
You wiped away a tear and smiled harder than you had in days. “You’re really strange Alex,” you clapped a hand on his back and in a split-second decision pressed a lightning-fast kiss to his cheek, and got up to walk out. “And you’re pretty too,” you whispered behind you, but with the tomato-like flush on his cheeks that appeared, you knew he heard you.
Oscar joined you in your walk to the motorhome with a knowing smirk on his face. “You know I have to tell Lando now, right?” he chuckled, and you groaned, crossing your arms.
“I’m a fully-grown adult. I can do what I want,” you scoffed.
“You sure look like one right now,” he murmured under his breath. Yes, you may have resembled a toddler throwing a tantrum, but that was neither here nor there. You rolled your eyes and nudged his arm, and he smiled back. Maybe this would be the start of something, because one thing was clear, you couldn’t get Alex out of your head.
summary . . . When Paul and (Y/n) have a fight, he doesn't know if she'll ever forgive him. However, he decides to take his chance and ends up with a happy girlfriend.

alexavia yaps . . . little random story idk i kinda stole it from myself <33 tell me who yall want in the next one <3
It was almost noon now, Paul knew damn well that he should be practicing on the sim, but he wasn't.
He re-read the messages between him and (Y/n), for what seemed like the millionth time. Was he really that much of an asshole? He couldn't believe how she didn't physically attack him, he'd want to do it to himself.
Cocky, annoying and asshole-ish. That was he was to (Y/n), and he didn't understand why she still dealt with him. Perhaps homicide of oneself would be useful now.
His fingers lingered over the keyboard, aching to send her a message. It was so painful to restrain himself, he basically longed to see the blue message appear on his phone.
Sighing, he closed his phone and looked at himself in the mirror. His hair was messy, he looked rougher than usual. He guessed that this would happen when the thing you love most is taken away from you.
He brushed his hair slightly with his hands, and put on the rings (Y/n) gave him, the ones he always wears. Grabbing the bouqet he had bought off his bedside table, he closed his hotel room and went out into the dangerous, dangerous hallway.
Paul knew he had fucked everything up when (Y/n) didn't respond to his text. Usually, she'd reply within seconds, always surprising him with her fast replying speed.
If only she was as fast to forgive him.
Something like this happening was inevitable, whether they liked it or not. They were both foolish to think that they'd have a relationship with no fighting whatsoever. Stupid of them.
The thing was, it wasn't only this recent fight that made them like this. No, it was multiple mini fights that just made their frustration build up to the point where they both snapped.
Paul was wrong, he knew that. But he couldn't bring himself to admit it, always so stubborn, both of them. He knew that if he did, he was going to be teased, even though it was the right thing to do.
And after a very heated argument with himself, he'd decided to go apologise to (Y/n). He had promised himself to not get cold feet when he arrived at her hotel room. But as he stood there, a large bouquet in his hands, he felt the urge to run off and never return.
He was already regretting his choice of flowers: white lilies, blue hydrangeas, and a few blue hyacinths thrown in just for the aesthetic. Why'd he chose blue specifically? He'd never know.
The shame and guilt felt heavy on his shoulders, weighing him down as he took a deep breath, finally bringing himself to knock on her door. Two heavy knocks and one light knock, that was their code. Paul slightly regretted doing the secret knock, what if she didn't open the door because she knew it was him?
Stop that, take deep breaths and calm down. He'd told himself, the dread slowly enveloping him the longer (Y/n) took to open the door. It was very dreadful.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, she opened the door. Paul had to force himself to not start sobbing from relief. (Y/n) had opened the door! This was one small step for her, but a giant leap for him.
He was brought back to reality by his girlfriend clearing her throat, glaring at him, as if urging him to speak. Her eyes were slightly bloodshot, her face a bit paler than usual. Had she been sick? He knew that she got sick easily, and more often than not, he'd find her sniffling and shoving pills into her mouth.
"Uh-hi! How have you been? I....I brought these flowers for you. I know you don't like red roses so I choose against them but then had the weird urge to-"
"Yes, yes. Thank you. Why'd you come here?" (Y/n) cut him off, her tone frustrated, or maybe annoyed. He didn't know why he started talking so much, good job you idiot.
He should've asked Ralf or even Dino for help. This was a bad idea, he already regretted it. Now he'll never be able to get his girlfriend back and she'll never forgive him.
"Paul! What is the matter with you? Speak." He was so caught up in his own thoughts that he forgot about (Y/n) standing infront of him. Ironic.
"Ah, yeah. I just came here to apologise to you, I was an asshole and I knew I was wrong. I am so sorry, kallis," He mentally facepalmed when she raised an eyebrow at that. "I just want you to forgive me, I should have cared and noticed when people were hating on you. I love you so much and don't want to lose you. So please, just forgive me, (Y/n)."
Wow, where'd he pull that from? He should start considering a job in film writing, or even writing books. His lines would probably have people sobbing.
(Y/n) narrowed her eyes at him, her face pulling into an awkward, forced smile. Maybe he should stick to being a racing driver.
"I appreciate all this, Paul. I really do. But..."
But what?!
"You really didn't need to bring flowers, you could've just came and apologised. Thank you."
Paul's anxiety vanished instantly, all hints of the shaking hands he had vanishing. His face formed a grin, his whole body relaxing.
"I-h....I love you so much and I can't deal with losing you again. " He managed to say. His voice shook, as if he was going to cry. He really couldn't lose (Y/n) again.
"I can't either, ange. And I'm sorry, for everything. I love you too." (Y/n) gave him an apologetic smile, and he could see in her eyes that she really meant it.
Paul felt immense happiness flood him, all tension from the past few days disappearing. He wouldn't have known what to do if (Y/n) hadn't forgave him
"So...are we back together?...." Paul trailed off, he really didn't know at this point.
"We broke up?" She said, tilting her head at him.
"Oh... Well, I thought we did. Uh, sorry, it was a stupid question. I don't know what I'm saying." He scratched the back of his head. Great, Paul, you ruined it now
"How have you been?"
"Quite depressed, actually. You really did light up my life," (Y/n)'s eyes widened, and her cheeks were tinted red. He still has the charm. "Well, I have to go now. I have to do the track walk with Amaury. See you around, I guess."
"See you."
He didn't know what to do with his arms, part of him stepped forward to hug her, and part of him raised his hands to wave. (Y/n) sighed and pulled him into a hug, rubbing his back while she laid her head on his chest. His heart was propably beating out of his chest, still not used to the feeling.
Then, he swore he heard her mutter something like 'I missed you'.
In advance: This is getting a Part 2 for sure. I don’t want to leave it here, but at the same time I felt like it would be really long if I left it in one piece. Turns out I have a whole lot of inspiration for Marcus fics right now. 😂 I also wanna let everyone, who’s waiting for their request, know that uni is starting next week for me. It means less free time, but I will make sure to finish every one of them in the next week or so, and then focus on all the series I started. There’s gonna be slower updates to them, but I’ll make sore to have one or two per week at least. Hopefully they won’t try to kill us in the starting weeks and I will finish up the Lando one so I could start posting that every week and just add some parts from the others to the queue 😊
Thank you Anon for requesting this one though, and sorry for the wait. Hope you will enjoy it and as it’s almost the next day here, have a really happy start to your Friday everyone 🧡

With the Australian GP knocking on the door Melbourne filled up with tourists and fans even more than usual. The first time I got to witness it in 2017 was actually scary in a way for someone who didn’t know the city well yet. Getting from one part of the city to another was a hard task already, and all the shouting and crazy fans weren’t of much help when I tried to get some usable info out of them so I could finally get to my destination and get off the streets. It almost held me back from choosing Melbourne’s university, but I had to remind myself that it was just once a year and I shouldn't give up my plans because of it. Melbourne was beautiful and their schools were highly rated, giving me everything for a stable future. Luckily I was never disappointed by my choices as it was easy to get used to the life here and I even found some new friends who helped me every time I felt homesick. It wasn’t the worst usually, as I was truly content with how my life was going, but sometimes it just hit me out of nowhere and in those moments they were always there for me.
It was now the third year when we lived through the race weekend, meaning we finally had a working schedule with which we still followed our usual plans but stayed out of the bigger crowds. Although we were in the middle of the semester we always found time to enjoy the still warm weather and spend most of our free time outside. Usually our choice was the beach for the afternoons as even though it was packed until noon, the tourists never stayed for long. We usually arrived in the late afternoon and stayed well after the sun went down, and the temperature went down a little finally. The water usually stayed comfortable until later in the evening making it bearable for almost a whole 24 hours if you weren’t squeamish. Even if you were after spending a few weeks at the beach, everyone got used to it.
As soon as everyone finished with their lectures we got our things together and took the 5 minutes walk down to the beach. We had a favourite spot which was luckily never taken when we got down there. For a few minutes we just sat down, talking about our weeks. I shared a dorm room with two other girls, but we had a few friends who had their own apartments or lived with their family a bit farther away from our university. We usually had one or two days every week to catch up with them as in between lectures we were either too tired or didn’t have the time to do so. But most of the afternoons were ours fully and we used it the best we could to relax but still use that time to make memories for the few years we’re spending together. We could say it’s gonna stay the same after we graduate but everyone knew we would move to different countries as soon as we weren’t connected to Australia. Even I planned to go home, although I enjoyed living here and getting to be independent without my family behind my back.
“ Are you coming? ” One of the girls asked me, as they were already walking down to the water, while I was still standing around our towels with my phone in my hand. I was in the middle debating which sunset photo I should post from my gallery, but her voice made me look up.
“ Just a second. I’ll catch up. ” I smiled at her before looking back down at my screen. In the end my finger finally tapped the posting button and I pushed it aside while I got the sundress off that was on over my bikini.
Right before I would have ran after the girls, the device was back in my hands so I could check that the picture uploaded without a problem. A smile got on my face when I saw a reaction from one of my family members but as soon as it showed the whole list of the people who looked at my story, it faded away. For the past few months whenever I posted something he was always there in the first few seconds or at least minutes. I couldn’t understand what changed that he showed up in my life again, but I didn't really want to give him space in my thoughts either. It has been almost 4 years since we last talked and could call each other best friends, but I wasn’t about to take the first step and message him after he forgot about me until now. I just dropped my phone back into my bag, closing it and then caught up with my friends so they could make me forget about him again.
We spent quite some time in the water, swimming a few laps back and forth before just standing around and enjoying the last rays of sunshine while we chatted away. My thoughts were already in a different direction thanks to all the different topics that came up between us. Sometimes it was harder to make me forget time and time again, but turns out today I only needed some distraction and everything was set for an enjoyable night. With the sun completely off the sky the temperature dropped quickly and it was getting a bit chilly for my liking in just a few minutes. When it was truly uncomfortable I gave up and walked back to the shore, sitting down on my own blanket and draping my towel around my shoulders. It immediately brought enough warmth over my body that I stopped shivering and could wait for them until they would get cold too. Until then I just went onto my phone to go through some posts of my friends. Sometimes I looked up to check on them just so they wouldn’t leave me out of something. One of those times I saw a person coming my way and although I didn’t mind too much attention to it, when he continued and there was no one else in my close proximity I felt like he might be coming to me. In the end I was right as he turned right towards me and then stopped just a few steps away from our blankets.
“ Never thought you would exchange our lovely and perfect red stars for ugly white ones. ” He spoke up and I could recognise the voice even though his face was almost unseeable thanks to him standing with his back towards the moon. My jaw dropped immediately and I felt like I grew roots into the ground as I couldn’t move my body. “ If you want me to fuck off, just tell me. It’s okay. I just thought we could maybe talk, and from the pictures I saw that you’re here. Hoped you didn’t go home yet so I could catch you and... ” He started rambling but I was quick to finally push myself up and hug him immediately. I always imagined our reunion with me being angry at him, but somehow I couldn’t get myself to feel that way now that he was standing right in front of me.
“ You idiot. ” I told him not leaving any space for questions and I could feel as he finally relaxed and hugged me back. “ The biggest in the whole world. ” I added with a sigh, closing my eyes as my brain started functioning again and I had an urge to kick his shin at least.
“ I can live with that. ” Marcus let out a laugh and I could feel as my heart jumped a little at the sound. It was something that always reminded me of our home and spending every possible second together. “ I’m sorry for disappearing. ” He let out a sigh, letting go of me only when we realised my wet bathing suit soaked his shirt, although even he didn’t care about it for too long.
“ What are you doing here? I thought F2 wasn't coming here. ” I asked him confused, knowing that we wouldn’t be in this situation if he traveled here for one of the races in the past two years. “ Not like I’m complaining, but I can hardly believe my own eyes and senses. ” I shook my head a little before looking up at him again. He changed, quite a bit since we last met and even though I saw pictures of him it was different in a face-to-face situation.
“ Ferrari invited a few of us so we could gather some experience. The speed I accepted the offer with might have raised some eyebrows. ” Marcus hid his face in his palm, making me chuckle as I could see the situation unfold in front of my eyes like I was there. “ Thought I would DM you and ask if you wanted to meet up maybe. But I realized it would be better offline. ” I had to roll my eyes at his first idea although I knew he wasn’t lying and it for sure went through his brain as a real possibility.
“ You’re lucky you didn’t. I would have blocked you forever I think. My plan was connecting my fist with your face if we ever meet again, right until you showed up here. ” I shook my head with a smile, as I wasn’t proud of what I wanted to do to him. “ I was really angry when you just stopped talking to me. I tried so hard to reach you, but it felt like you didn’t even exist anymore even though they were talking about you almost every week. ” I sighed, sitting back down and leaving enough space for him too.
“ Would have been deserved actually. ” His fingers scratched at the nape of his neck and I could see the tint of purple traveling up his neck. I watched him as he sat down, pulling his legs up and resting his arms onto them. “ I really am sorry. For a part everything got busy with all the training, races and studying, but at the same time I know damn well a message here and there should have been possible. I messed up, everything. ” His eyes shined even in the minimal light of the moon, and I could get myself to look away. Even feeling the burning stares on my back from my friends didn’t get me to turn around.
“ I won’t say that it’s okay, but I accept your apology. How could I not. ” I let out a breath that I realized was still stuck in me since the initial surprise took over my body. “ It feels like we didn’t even skip over like 3 years of each other’s life. Only difference is that you’re finally taller than me, but the baby face’s still there. ” My hand went up to his cheek to pat it gently like my grandma did for him all the time when he came over for lunch. He always hated it but knew that it was a gesture of love from her and a way to show Marcus that she considered him part of our family.
“ Yeah, I guess it’s going to stay forever. ” Marcus huffed, moving his head back a little to avoid my attack, although he failed miserably. “ I almost forgot, congrats for uni. I remember how hard you were studying to get in. Everyone home was ecstatic when I told them about it. ” His hand slapped his forehead, making me laugh with his expression at the slight stinging he caused himself.
“ Thank you, but it’s nothing compared to your second place last year. ” I shrugged a little but as soon as his lips pulled into a slight smirk my eyes rolled on their own. “ Surprise, surprise, I followed your career. Just as much as you followed my life for the past few months. ” I poked him in the ribs with my finger, making him wince for a second before we both started laughing at the little sound he made.
“ Fair. I still hate how Instagram shows who opened your stories. ” He shook his head a little and both of our heads turned towards the water when we realized the background chatting was getting closer and closer to where we were sitting. They were just a few meters away when my eyes landed on their figures and I sensed when Marcus stood up from next to me, making me push myself up too.
I didn’t feel too anxious about him meeting my other friends, although I knew what this meant for my evening at the dorm with them. They would have an immense amount of questions both about him and us, even though I already mentioned him when we were bringing up our past. A few of them even knew about my past feelings about him and how him reappearing on my socials played with my emotions, but they only saw a few photos of him. This was another level and I knew he would be the topic for at least the next week between us, for one reason or another. Depends on how we get on from this point and if we manage to keep in contact when they have to fly away again.
“ Oh, I knew it wasn’t just my imagination. I told you someone was coming here. ” My roommate spoke up as soon as they got close enough to make us out from the darkness. “ You’re Marcus, right? ” She stepped right in front of him, reaching her hand out while introducing herself. I always admired her boldness even in front of strangers.
“ Yes, although I didn’t know so many people knew me from here. ” Marcus let out an uneasy chuckle, looking at me a bit concerned. I just shook my head dismissively, almost telling him that it was just a ‘Girl group’ thing. Relief washed over me though that I didn’t share a lot about him, behind his back.
I watched from the sideline as everyone introduced themselves to him and for a second it felt domestic as all of them shot me a concerned glance towards me. It felt like they would pounce at him if they saw that I was uncomfortable in his presence. While it made me feel loved in a way, I also didn’t want them to really chip on the situation. It was something that better dealt with in private as I felt like we had to talk lots of things through to get back to the friendship we left behind years ago. This wasn’t the setting for a conversation like that.
“ We should probably get home before it gets really late. School won’t wait in the morning. ” I spoke up before any of them could start questioning him. We would never be able to get going then. “ Maybe we can catch up sometime before the race? I’m sure you will have enough to do during the weekend. ” I turned back towards Marcus who looked just as relieved as I did seconds ago.
“ Yeah, that would be better. Maybe lunch, or a coffee in the afternoon? Whenever you’re free of course. ” He nodded a little, still glancing at the girls who were either packing up or staring him down behind me.
“ I’m up for either of those. Surprise me. ” I grinned at him, feeling the pull on my arm when everyone was ready. “ Is your number the same? ” I asked him, already taking a step back, but waiting for his answers.
“ Yes. Never changed. ” Marcus nodded again, a little smile playing on his lips at the idea that we’re going to meet up again probably. At least I hoped so. Why else would he stalk me down and come up to me for a chat?
“ I’m gonna text you in the morning when’s my last lecture. We can meet up after that. ” I told them, before turning around with one last wave and catching up to my group. I could only hope that they would at least let me sleep before the questions start pouring out of them all at once.

“It’s convenient!” you argued. “It’s not like I’m in love with him, he’s just helping me out.”
Alex stared back at you, completely and utterly unconvinced. “Sure, and I didn’t cause an 11 car pile up in Monaco,” he nodded. “You clearly have this under control.”
Irish sarcasm, isn’t it great. You rolled your eyes. “Alex, come on, he’s just-”
“The love of your life,” he finished for you, and you swore you would have rung his neck out.
“I’m not in love-!”
“Oh! So the sky’s never been blue?! I’m shocked,” he deadpanned. “He’s in love with you-”
“Who’s he?” Sebastian rested an arm around your waist, smiling as he looked between the two of you. “Is it Verstappen wannabe here?” he asked, pointing at Alex, who chuckled mockingly. The nickname had spread like a wildfire throughout the F2 paddock, and it was kind of funny. The 11 car pile up was no joke and it was great that they all walked away with no injuries.
“At least I’m not being shown up by my teammate,” he bit back as you just watched between the two of them. “Bye Y/n, see you on track Sebastian.”
“What did he want?” he questioned, turning his attention to you, dropping his hand from your waist. He was all too aware of how strong he came on there, and how silent you got. He hoped he hadn’t ruined anything. He really hoped the ‘he’ Alex was talking about was him, because it meant you were talking about him, which settled a small colony of butterflies in his stomach.
“Just a chat,” you shrugged, turning to him. “How are you?”
“Better now that you’re back in the paddock,” he smirked. “Where were you?”
“Busy,” you teased, walking on, ahead of him. He raised a curious eyebrow and followed. “Had some family stuff. Hope it wasn’t too terrible without me.”
“Well I survived, but just barely,” he teased. “Best if you don’t go away again.”
You just laughed. What the fuck does one say to that? How does one respond to blatant flirting? How does one keep their cool? “I’ll try to stay in the paddock,” you smirked. “No promises.”
He could’ve sworn he’d died and gone to heaven when you looked at him like that.
Travelling with Sebastian was good in some ways, and shit in others. You got free flights because of his sponsors (or something like that), simple boarding and disembarking experiences, luxury lounges, etc. It was shit, because well… Sebastian was there. That was the shit part, not really. It was this weird tension you two had going on between you. This will-they-won’t-they bullshit, and there seemed to be no end in sight. Yeah, you guys kissed sometimes, and you hooked up. He was sweet. He was nice. You had no idea if he was your boyfriend, or even actually interested in you.
“Is this the girlfriend?” his dad teased as you walked up behind Sebastian, who went bright red. This could not be happening right now. He stared at the two of you with an expecting smile, and your jaw just dropped, unsure of what to say. What does one say to that? Had Sebastian told his dad you were his girlfriend to let you on the flight? Would he be mad to know Sebastian was just letting anyone on? Were you about to have to find another way to Barcelona?
“Dad,” he groaned, covering his face. You continued to stand there, shocked. He nudged his son and laughed.
“Come on son, it’s a joke! We both know you’re too pretty for him,” he winked at you and smiled, and you pretended that you weren’t actively losing your shit. You let out a small laugh, trying to regulate your nervous system as the adrenaline in your blood slowly dissipated. “Let’s go, shall we?”
He set out in front of you as Seb stood back, waiting for you. He nudged into you as you walked from security, an apologetic smile on his face. “I’m so sorry, he makes super ill-timed jokes sometimes,” he admitted, embarrassment clear in his features. “You alright?”
“Yeah, of course,” you nodded, letting out a nervous laugh. “Just… caught me off guard.”
He stared at you for a second. “Why would that catch you off guard?”
“Because I'm not your girlfriend?” you chuckled. “Are you sure you weren’t hurt during the race? I know you didn’t crash but-”
“What?!” he squeaked. People stared. He cleared his throat. “But all the…” he trailed off, knowing his dad was within ear shot. “So that didn’t mean anything or…?”
“Oh no!” you took his hand. His face dropped. “I mean yes! Yes, it meant something!” you corrected yourself. “It meant something to me, I just didn’t know if it meant anything to you.”
“Of course it meant something to me,” he said, like it was obvious. “You mean something to me.”
You softened. “You mean something to me too,” you admitted. “So… we’re dating?”
“I thought we had been this whole time,” he scratched the back of his head.
So maybe you were in love. And maybe Alex was right.

. . . The sound of engines echoed through the paddock at the Yas Marina Circuit. It was that time of the season, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The ending act to yet another long and draining year of racing. The air was filled with both excitement and a bittersweet kind of finality as drivers, engineers, and fans prepared to bid farewell to the year.
For you, though, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix had always been your favorite weekend. There was something about racing under the floodlights, the tinge of hues of purple and blue in the evening sky, and the way everything felt amplified.
But this year, the atmosphere felt heavier… personal, even.
You were Prema’s star driver, having worked your way up through the ranks with courage and unwavering determination. Your journey hadn’t been easy, but you’d found your home with the team.
A home that supported you, believed in you, and pushed you to your limits. But in the back of your mind, there had been whispers of change.
Today, though, you weren’t letting the rumors distract you. You were more focused on the weekend, pacing around the hospitality area, reviewing your race notes when you felt someone grab your cap right off your head.
"Hey!" you exclaimed, turning to face the offender.
Of course, it was none other than Sebastian, grinning like he’d won a championship.
"That’s mine," you said, raising an eyebrow as you snatched the cap back.
"Yours? Nah, you’re just holding onto it for me," he teased, his dimples on full display as he rocked back on his heels.
Sebastian had been your boyfriend for a while now. You’d met years back during the karting days, and although he’d started out as nothing more than an annoying competitor, it didn’t take long for your relationship to grow into something more.
He was your biggest rival on track when you weren’t sharing quiet moments off it, always keeping you on your senses in the best way.
"Don’t you have somewhere to be?" you asked, giving him a playful shove as he lingered.
"Actually, yes," he said, the grin softening into something unreadable. There was a flicker of nervousness behind his eyes, a rare sight.
You frowned. "What? Did your dad find out you broke his sunglasses again?"
Seb laughed, but it wasn’t as happy as usual. "No, it’s…something else. I need to talk to you. Properly."
"Okay?" You gestured to the empty chairs around the corner. "Sit. Talk."
He hesitated, rubbing the back of his neck. You could tell whatever this was, it meant a lot to him. Finally, he sat down, gesturing for you to do the same.
The air felt quieter now, despite the distant hum of engines and the chatter of the paddock beyond. You leaned in a little, watching him closely.
"Seb, you’re acting weird. What’s going on?"
He exhaled, staring at the table for a moment before looking back up at you. "I got an offer for next year."
Your eyes widened slightly, but you didn’t say anything, letting him continue.
"I’m moving to Prema."
The words hung in the air for a moment, as though you needed time to process what he’d just said. A moment passed. Then another.
"Wait…what?" you asked, blinking in disbelief.
"I’m joining Prema next year. We’re going to be teammates," he repeated, a small smile tugging at his lips as if he couldn’t quite believe it himself.
Your brain caught up, and suddenly, you were hit with a mixture of emotions all at once. Surprise. Excitement. Shock. And maybe a little bit of something else that you couldn’t put into words yet.
"You’re serious?" you finally asked, your voice softer now.
"Yeah," he said. "They offered me the seat, and I couldn’t say no. I mean, it’s Prema, (Y/n). And…it’s you. You’re there."
Your lips parted slightly as you processed the weight of his words. It was true, Prema was the best of the best. For Sebastian, joining them was huge. It was everything he’d worked for, and he deserved it. He deserved this.
"You’re really joining Prema," you murmured, a small, unbelieving smile pulling at your lips. "And we’re going to be teammates."
"I know it’s a little crazy," he said, his expression turning sheepish. "I mean, we’ll still have to race each other, and I know you’re going to try and beat me every single time-"
"I will beat you every single time." you corrected, the competitive tone in your voice and glint in your eyes making him laugh.
"We’ll see about that," he said, shaking his head. "But seriously, I couldn’t think of a better person to learn from. Or to fight against. You push me to be better every single time, you know that?"
Your heart warmed at his words, the sincerity catching you off guard. You’d always known how much he respected you as a driver, but hearing it like this…it hit differently.
"You’re going to fit right in," you said softly. "Prema’s lucky to have you."
Sebastian’s face lit up, the nervousness finally replaced by excitement. "I’m lucky to have them. And you.'
You rolled your eyes with a small smile, trying not to let him see how much that last part affected you. But before you could say anything else, he stood up and held out his hand.
"Come on," he said. "Let’s go. I want to see you absolutely destroy everyone in quali later. And then me next year."
"You say that now, but when I do, you’re going to sob about it for days," you teased, taking his hand and standing up.
"Never. I’ll just tell everyone you had home field advantage," he shot back, grinning as he started to walk ahead.
You rolled your eyes again but followed, your heart feeling unusually light. The future suddenly didn’t feel so uncertain anymore. Sebastian was going to be your teammate.
Your rival. Your biggest challenge and your greatest ally. And deep down, you knew that 2025 was going to be unforgettable.
As you watched him walk a few steps ahead, his figure illuminated by the fading Abu Dhabi sun, you smiled to yourself.
"Teammates, huh?" you murmured, the words felt foreign on your tongue, yet they also felt strange and wonderful.
Sebastian glanced back at you with a knowing look.
"Yeah," he said, flashing you a grin. "But don’t think for a second I’m going to make it easy for you."
You laughed, shaking your head. "Wouldn’t dream of it, Montoya."
The lights of the paddock glimmered overhead as the weekend rolled on, but for the first time in a while, you weren’t worried about what came next.
Marcus Armstrong & Callum Ilott - Prema Cooking Challenge
I will start with saying I’m quite high on painkillers right now, so if there’s anything that’s messed up (even after reading through it at least 20 times), please do let me know and I’m really sorry 🤦 Otherwise, this was really fun to write, and I really do hope Prema will bring that mentioned cooking challenge, or more like ‘not setting the kitchen on fire challenge’ as Oscar said. 😂 Thank you so much for requesting, it was a real challange to write a boy friendship rather than a male-female one 😅 Have a fantastic Friday 🥰🧡

Thanks to it being the winter break and off season most people had too much free time on their hands. You would think with F1 and F2 being two of the more serious sports in the world, people associated with it would put their new found time towards training or improving their skills. However, working your ass off in a gym didn’t mean there wasn’t space for some fun with older and newer friends. That was exactly what the people at Prema planned, after a few of their past and present drivers took to Twitter and joked about a challenge that fans immediately loved the sound of. It was easy to please their followers when they showed them what they would love to see happening in the future. Even better when it was a challenge that was easy to set up and just invite some people over for a few days to film it. The most they had to plan was the setup of the small little kitchen areas and getting the equipment needed.
Several of the invited people took flights to Italy that gave them a few days prior to the filming days and planned on going home only after spending a bit more time there. Most of them haven’t been for a visit since they left the team and wanted to catch up with past colleagues and friends. That was exactly how Marcus planned his visit to Italy and arrived there two days early, texting their group as soon as he was in the hotel to finally meet up with them. Even after going their own ways the group chat stayed active and they made sure to catch up when they had time. Having a great friendship didn’t mean they can keep that up without working for it. It was easier when you met up everyday thanks to working together, but they managed to get into a rhythm that worked for everyone, after changing teams and moving away. They now had two days to fully catch up, not just over the phone but in real life, giving them a chance to focus on the tasks on the real filming day, and not on finally meeting again.
After those first days it was time for the filming day, meaning an early start for everyone. By 9 a.m. everyone was changed into clothes that went with the cooking theme and was accepted by all the other teams and sponsors for the challenge and ready to start. They were separated into pairs and sent to different rooms. They set up cooking stations in different rooms of the building, so they could record everyone at the same time but still separately. It would have been chaos if they tried to get 15 youngsters to work next to each other. It would have been fantastic for a food fight video, but not for anything else.
“ Are we ready? ” Callum heard and looked up from where he was organizing the ingredients they were given, just seconds ago. Looking to his right he could see Marcus nodding and he repeated the movement with his own head. “ Then 3, 2, 1. Rolling. ” The same person counted down and then stepped aside
“ Welcome everyone. We’re back at the Prema office for a day, sporting the Italian red color, to show you guys our kitchen skills. ” Marcus started speaking immediately, remembering the script perfectly and looking into the camera that was positioned in a way to see both of them and the countertops in front of them. “ Yes, you heard right, we’re the ones cooking today, but I’m not sure these will be served at lunch for safety reasons. ” Marcus smiled, making everyone laugh around the room.
“ Yes, we’re not here to kill anyone. We have a few ingredients, but did not get a receipt if I’m right. ” Callum looked around, waiting to see if someone would deny what he said. “ So I guess our objective is making something that involves everything we got? ” He asked looking down at the ingredients around the counter.
“ Exactly. Firstly, we will give you a minute to look at everything and then you will have to guess what you have to make. The one who guesses right gets a bit of help from us. ” The organizer told them, both of them nodding and going through all the food in front of them to get an idea what they’re making. “ Okay, times up. Take a guess in 3, 2, 1. ” Both of them were still looking down waiting for the countdown.
“ Lasagna. ” Callum spoke up, his voice showing it was more like a question than a statement. They had to wait a second, but when Marcus replied with the word ‘Pizza’, it was time for the reveal.
“ And that’s exactly what you’re making. It’s gonna be a delicious lasagna… or just a simple lasagna. Let’s stay with that. ” She let out a chuckle, motioning for some of the guys behind her, to get Callum’s prize from the fridge. “ For guessing right you get the dough for the pasta that one of the chefs from Prema’s kitchen put together. A bit of help. ” She added while Callum took the dough that was placed in front of him and looked a lot better than what he would have made probably.
“ That’s not fair. Shouldn’t the less experienced one get the help? ” Marcus asked, offended at the idea, that Callum already did better than him. “ And that’s not me saying I’m worse than you. Just less experienced. ” He pointed a finger at his friend even before he could open his mouth to say anything. He would never accept being the worst from the two of them without a fight.
His whines were dismissed, with one of the guys putting their time on the clock and starting it after once more counting down for them. Both started off immediately, Callum with the sauce and Marcus with the dough. While they were only ‘racing’ each other now, they knew in the end their results would compete against everyone who takes part in the challenge today. It wasn’t all about winning, but if you already had to try you usually wanted to at least get up to a podium spot, didn’t you? It was even harder when all your friends who took part were competitive racing drivers and knew exactly what they wanted. Maybe cooking wasn’t their profession but if they tried hard enough they could do enough to not starve. Maybe a lasagne wasn’t the thing that will beat them.
“ Whoever wins is the one buying lunch. ” Marcus spoke up as soon as he saw how far behind he was, thanks to the help his friend got at the start. He was still getting the dough together, with it sticking everywhere onto the counter, while Callum was almost finished with the meat for his sauce. “ And the loser decides where they’re eating. ” He added, although almost took it back, remembering that it was still the start and he had a chance to be better than the other one.
“ Deal! ” Callum nodded before Marcus could have said anything else. That was a big enough of a price for the winner to pay just because they were better or luckier. Even if Marcus would have made it worse with his next few words, he couldn’t have known which one of them would win.
Their time was slowly ticking down, leaving less and less chances for them to keep everything clean while making everything that was needed. When Callum was already filling up his casserole with the pasta, sauce and mozzarella on top, Marcus was still stirring his sauce and adding the last few spices to it. They still had time and as the baking itself wasn’t included he felt like it would be easy to finish everything. Neither of them seemed sure about what they were doing, but it was probably mostly because of the lack of recipe and instructions, not getting immediate feedback for their actions.
While Marcus was waiting for the sauce to finally boil he watched as the brit was precisely positioning every sheet of pasta to make it look perfect. Taking a chance while his ‘enemy’ wasn’t looking he took his plate full of cheese and just quickly put it under a kitchen cloth he had laying around. In his head he gave about a minute for Callum to notice the missing bowl from his station and he was right as a bit later he could see him looking around for it. Mumbling something under his breath, Callum soon realised where it went but still had to almost fight Marcus for it, getting both of them soaked by the little bit of water that was under the cheese. After all he had his cheese back and even sacrificed a slice to throw it at Marcus, hitting him on the shoulder and neck, before using the remaining amount to cover his pasta.
“ You’re doing quite good. ” Callum came up to Marcus when he was already finished and had some time to poke at his friend and break his concentration. What the other one didn’t know is how the hand patting his back was in the bag of flour just seconds prior. He even let a smile get on his face before the strange feeling registered in his mind and he immediately turned his head trying to look at his back.
“ Mate, what did I do to you? ” Marcus asked, squinting his eyes at him and getting a bit of the tomato sauce on his fingers and just seconds later chucking it towards Callum, who tried dodging the attack the best he could. It still hit him but at least only his white apron and not other parts. “ You’re lucky. ” He rolled his eyes, while Callum rather stayed away from him so he couldn’t mess with him again. There was too much expensive equipment in the room to start a foodfight.
“ Okay, half a minute remaining. ” The organizer spoke up, making Marcus act at two times the normal speed, pouring the last bits of sauce onto the pasta and then getting the cheese on the top. “ Thre, two, one. Hands up ‘chefs’. ” The timers went off and both of them stepped back from their station. The dishes were taken away to the ovens, so they were done in time for the inspection.
“ Guess I’m getting free lunch at least. ” Marcus sighed, washing his hands but when he turned around he could only see Callum’s face pale. Looking at where his eyes were stuck he knew exactly why he looked so sickly. “ Or maybe not… ” He let out a laugh, bumping their shoulders and taking a piece of meat that was left out of Callum’s sauce and waiting in a container on the side until now.
“ I just lost… ” He sighed, staring at his probable only mistake, that cost him the whole challenge against someone he could have beaten easily. “ You know what? I’m ordering the most expensive thing off the menu. ” He stated, turning to Marcus as it was now his friend’s turn to pale a little, but straightening up he took the thought as a champ.
“ I would say I don’t deserve that… but it was me bringing up the deal, so I can’t say anything. ” Marcus shrugged a little, starting to clean up his station, to help a little while their creations were baking. They were free until the inspections were over and it was time for the announcement of the results.
“ How could I leave the meat out? That’s the main ingredient in the whole sauce. ” Callum was close to fuming as he took his coffee from under the machine, sitting down on the sofa across Marcus. Maybe caffeine wasn’t what he needed, but in a way it always calmed him down before giving him any energy. “ I just handed you the victory between the two of us. ” He shook his head, taking a sip of his drink rather.
“ Let’s hope I at least will use the chance and win it all then. ” Marcus shrugged a little, holding his own cup while all the others were sitting around them on random chairs or sofa spots. He really didn’t know if he even had a chance or not, but remained positive about it all until the end.
An hour later Marcus had the third place tiny trophy in his hands and they were in an Uber on their way to a asian restaurant, that was their favourite while living here. Callum did get an honorary ribbon for ‘Worst mistake made’, but he did not wear it as proudly as Marcus held his trophy during the whole car ride. There were a few others with them, and in the end Marcus did pay for Callum’s lunch, although he didn’t order anything too special, sparing the kiwi’s wallet. There will probably be another occasion where he’s gonna be in Marcus’ shoes and will be paid back for this one time. He was the best on the track anyways, no?
