Hello there again..well, for those that read the unboxing of the F2 from Kata.. here’s the review of the unit in actual performance..

If you havent read the unboxing..

The Kata F2 is the next version of the Kata F1s whch we were able to review a couple of month ago and is placed in the market of the starter to mid range phones…

The F2 is a dual sim phone which uses one regular sized sim and 1 micro sim with an expandable slot for memory cards..

  What can I say about this phone? well… the rear camera is only 8 MP but it does take astounding shots for something as small as it is.. here are some sample shots taken with the F2..

The F2 performance in terms of battery life, I could classify into 2.. simple calls and texts and the other one full out online use for someone like me…

If you are not a heavy net user like me.. or always online and use the Kata F2 mainly for texts and calls.. this phone with its 1,850 mAh battery.. it should last you more than a day of calls and texts.. surprisingly with heavy use for data an wifi, the F2 lasts about half a day with me… 5-7 hrs.. depends on actual usage time…

Here’s a look – the only reason its charging again is because I plugged it in my pc to transfer the pictures.. bawal pasaway na comment guys..

  If you use this for gaming.. you will need a powerbank or an outlet close to you.. the longest this lasted for me playing games was about 3 to 3 and 1/2 hrs… one good thing about the F2  that I noticed is that the heat of the phone when using data or playing games with wifi was not that much compared to the other phones that we have been able to review before..

Another thing I like about the F2 is the size, dont get me wrong.. I like the M1 and the M3 better because of the size which allows me to work if I needed to on the phone.. but the size of the F2 is just enough for me to use as acall and text phone.. and backup phone.. besides… who wants to carry 2 full size phablets everyday, right?

All in all, for the introductory price of 3.999 php each.. this model of phone from Kata give more of the bang for the buck, so if you are looking for a nice sized phone that wont put too much of a dent in your budget.. the Kata F2 is enough to get you through all you need to do from calls and texts, to photgraphy, and even surfing and gaming..

If there’s something to be learned from the gangster epic Friend 2: The Legacy, it’s that the criminal underworld is nowhere as horrifically brutal as it seems on the news. Countless acts of violence are committed in this handsomely shot sequel to Friend, which smashed box-office records in South Korea in 2001. Because no one in the country’s port city of Busan seems to own a gun, the gang warfare consists primarily of stabbings, fistfights, and baseball-bat beatings, with the occasional chain-saw amputation thrown in for colour. What jumps out is that, for all the carnage, there’s a bizarre lack of bloodshed. In the rare instances where someone gets their hands dirty, it’s not in a way that will make anyone forget Scarface.

The film has the original gangster Lee Joon-seok (a steely-eyed and effectively underemotive Yoo Oh-seong) finishing a 17-year jail sentence for murdering a rival crime lord who also happened to be his best friend. Serving as his protégé as he struggles to regain his footing in gangland is Choi Seong-hoon (pinup-perfect Kim Woo-bin), who has a connection to his new boss that’s more complicated than it seems.

The timeline-jumping script is often a challenge to follow even if you’ve seen the first installment. But the bigger problem is a movie preaching violence as a solution to all of a gangster’s problems yet never going for the jugular.

Writer-director Kwak Kyung-taek—who helmed the original—somewhat atones for this with a story that offers some fascinating insights into the world of organized crime in Korea, with honour, custom, loyalty, and respect being recurring themes. The film also has sequences that are outright operatic in their execution (see the slow-mo revenge scene on a hospital floor set to Luc Baiwir’s gorgeously orchestral “Genesis”). For five minutes, it’s hard to argue with the artistry of Friend 2, even if it’s still a geyser of blood or two away from something great.

Friend 2: The Legacy - NowToronto review

Before names like Park Chan-wook (Oldboy) and Lee Chang-dong (Oasis) turned Western eyes toward South Korean cinema, Kwak Kyung-taek’s 2001 crime drama Friend was a hit with that country’s audiences.

Self-serious, melodramatic sequel Friend 2: The Legacy (or Friend: The Great Legacy, as the opening credits have it), picks up 17 years after the original, just as crime boss Lee Joon-seok (Yoo Oh-seong) wraps up a prison sentence for ordering a hit on his best friend/rival gang leader.

Reuniting with his Busan crime family only to discover that the new leadership isn’t too keen on returning control to him, Joon-seok mounts a violent yet dull and illogical takeover effort with prison mate Seong-hoon (Kim Woo-bin), a young firecracker in desperate need of a father figure.

The emotional entanglements between these two players give this sequel some much-needed heft, especially in the case of Woo-bin, a fine performer who enlivens derivative material. The overstuffed plot is constantly interrupted by flashbacks that fill in unnecessary character histories to make this both a prequel and a sequel à la The Godfather, Part II. The earnest attempt at being epic is obvious.

Failing to replicate the gonzo storytelling and dynamic aesthetic that has made South Korean cinema a sensation, Friend 2, like its predecessor, won’t make much of an impression in West.
