It was freezing outside, Ela had spent one winter in Auradon suffering through the cold but this year it seemed much worse. Far more bitter. Perhaps the novelty of winter wore off when she wasn't spending it with a significant other or goofing off with her best friend. Now she pulled a touque down over her ears and finally escaped inside Belle's, making sure with a gaze through the window that it was empty enough to avoid any gossip columnists or nosey Auradomions who would question her about the king's new engagement.
Head down, she stood in a short line quietly before it was her turn to order. There was only one barista on staff, who was both taking the order and making the drinks, so it took a moment of idling before the fancy whipped top latte she ordered was placed in front of her. Reaching into her jacket pocket, she rooted around feeling nothing but mints and a loose receipt, confusion washing over her features upon the absence of her cash and cards.
Then she remembered. She had changed coats upon the cold weather warning and hadn't remembered to throw her cards or cash in her pockets when she left the apartment. To be fair, there was a million and one things on her mind, she was far more distracted than normal. That reasoning didn't stop her from throwing her head back in what might have looked like a dramatic reaction to anyone near by.
"why is this my life" she exclaimed, out loud - to herself but loud enough that those nearby shot her looks that ranged from concerned to annoyed. Sighing, she shook her head before addressing the barista again. "I'm so sorry I forgot my money" the blonde explained, feeling immediately guilty for wasting the person's time and well, coffee and such - after a moment, she stepped aside as to get out of the next customers way. @calofdunbroch
