Stay calm. Remember the whole point of tonight. Focus on your motherfucking pasta and don’t think about where she is right now, or who she’s with right now, or what she’s doing right now. It doesn’t fucking matter. You don’t even know if they ended up meeting or not. Stop jumping to conclusions, you asshat. Ansel stood over the stove, watching the pot of not yet boiling water with such intensity that he was surprised his stare alone wasn’t enough to bring the liquid to a furious bubble. Ever since their reunion on the Insurgent set, the brunette had had a hard time thinking of anyone or anything other than that gorgeous costar of his. The two had exchanged a few flirty texts but, by some miracle by the scheduling gods, hadn’t seen each other face to face since that night.
He knew they still had a lot to talk about— a heat-of-the-moment make out session wasn’t going to magically fix the mess they’d made of their friendship over the previous week. Nor was it going to finally shed some light on their true feelings toward one another. Ansel had been dying to tell Shailene how he felt about her and he finally found himself in the perfect position to do so…until their text message thread turned from innocent flirting to her telling him she was going to be meeting up with Theo. What had she said again? That they, “Needed to work things out”? Yeah it sounded like a load of BS to him, but what was he supposed to say? “No. You can’t see your ex boyfriend who also happens to be your love interest in two and a half more movies. I know we aren’t even really together but I forbid it.” No, she would laugh in his face and probably never speak to him again. There was nothing he could do or say except control his own emotions and try to remember what the goal was: to finally make everything official with the girl who had full control over his heart and had for months now.
