Annie was enjoying the party and she was enjoying the not thinking about things that had happened in the past and trying to pretend she had moved on. She was ready for the new school year and she was excited to spend time learning new things and making new friends and actually trying to focus on herself for once. As she was at the party, she was a little overwhelmed there was a lot of people enjoying the party and she was glad to have caught up with several people whilst also avoiding people. She stepped outside for a bit where she saw childhood best friend Jesse standing there. Jesse was overly confident and in someways had such a different personality to her but they have been friends for far too long so she was happy to see him, but also she needed to talk to him about what happened over the summer, with him dating her best friend. She walked up to Jesse, "Well hello stranger, long time no see. did you miss me?" She smiled batting her eyes at him for a moment.

St. Berry || F2F: Surprise

Rachel had still been staring in disbelief at her phone, before her jaw finally snapped shut. Jesse had to be kidding, right? He hadn’t mentioned anything about travelling, nor about coming to see her. Then again, she figured, it would be just like Jesse to show up out of the blue. She smiled to herself, thumb skimming over the words in the text.

With a deep breath, she fixed her hair in her bathroom mirror, thankful that she’d already completed her skin cleansing ritual and put her makeup on, otherwise she might have been mad that Jesse sprung this on her. With her heart pounding ever so slightly in her chest, she made her way to the door and opened it.

F2F  → ST. HARPER / DINNERTIME

It could have been much worse. That’s how she felt as she sat down in Jesse’s living room, along with a slight tinge of feeling out of place.

A ‘family’ dinner with her aunt and her aunt’s apparent new great friend, who just so happened to be Jesse St. James’ mother, wasn’t her idea of fun. But she rolled with it, because it wasn’t like she had a choice. And anyway, after their short text conversation, she knew they at least had one thing in common: hatred for Quinn Fabray. It wasn’t exactly over the table conversation, but it undoubtedly made her like Jesse more.

Least she wasn’t the only person at McKinley with some sense. So when the table was cleared and the dishes stowed, Dani had shrugged at her aunt when she was asked whether they were going home together.

And now they were left alone, and while it was slightly awkward, it could have been worse.

“Bets on how many other nights like that we’ll have to sit through?”
