Frieren solved all my issues with teen heroes and adult/mentors in anime.

The show which don't glorify abuse as training. I loved the scene where Eizen explains the fight between him and his apprentice but neither of them brushes off the part where Stark got hurt . Even thousands years old Frieren who hardly looks like she care went, "wait a min you hit the kid?"

Aizen is a warrior training another warrior and It was the FIRST TIME Stark was physically hit by him. And Eizen felt regret about it. I don't need to hurt my student or punish him physically to teach him to be a great warrior. It's such a good and healthy mindset.

Even Frieren treats Fern so good. I thoulght she would be dismissive of the girl but she constantly praises Fern and tries her best to keep her happy. She don't push either of her kids to do something which they won't be able to.

Stark and Fern are teenagers and every adult acknowledges that but their age is not a weakness either. Same for every other young mage or warrior in the show. They ARE powerful but they ARE young. They should be allowed to fight and their efforts and victories should be celebrated. They should absolutely not be treated with cruelty though.

Stark is not a punching bag for the other characters for the sake of a gag or to get some job done and the older characters would never act so immature to bully a boy. I have seen this happen so much in anime that I am glad to see this change. They are not child soldiers either. It's just their world that is shaped like that. Their world is cruel and filled with demons but the youth should not suffer by the hands of the old to learn to adapt to it.
