The hottest fighter the Navy never got
Competitor to the McDonnell F-4H, and superior in nearly every respect. Could fly circles around a phantom in a dogfight, could outrun it, had a better thrust to weight ratio, and the Navy looked at a fuck ugly bus with fairly big engines on it, and thought that was better because it had a RIO, and could carry more bombs.
I like this plane. I think it’s pretty, and I think it needs some love. It’s a real shame it didn’t make it into production. Three prototypes were made, and all three got scrapped in the end. All we have left are photos.
I don’t know if that’s true or the author was being cheeky, but that’s hysterical.
