summary: Yoongi hates the beach, but he loves Taehyung and their friends and that makes the beach infinitely times better.
⇢ part five of love blossoms in winter
Yoongi isn’t sure why Taehyung made them go to the beach today, but whatever reason it may have been, Yoongi hates it with all his might. Living in Busan meant that the ocean was always a backdrop view to pretty much anything and Yoongi had always hated the beach.
He blames Hoseok for making him move here. But at least he got something out of it.
Taehyung.
“Hyung, come on. Don’t be such a sour sport,” Taehyung says right into Yoongi’s ear, his hands holding on tight to Yoongi’s waist.
Yoongi debates grabbing sand and flinging it at Taehyung’s face, but he’s too tired to run right now and honestly, driving his fiance to the ER doesn’t sound fun at all. It’s one of their rare days off from work and Yoongi just wants to go home and lie in bed with Taehyung and maybe get in a blowjob or two, but mostly he just wants to sleep.
Being at the beach is so not what he wants.
“Fuck off,” Yoongi replies, hands curled into fists as he resists the urge to give in and just throw the sand anyway.
“Nah,” Taehyung laughs. “Rather fuck you.”
Yoongi shakes his head in mock disappointment. “You’re disgusting.”
“And yet, that seems to be why you love me.”
“Shut up…”
Taehyung laughs again and presses a kiss to Yoongi’s forehead. “Let me put sunscreen on you and then we can go into the water. After that, we’ll eat and have some ice cream before I re-apply your sunscreen and we'll lounge about for a little while then go back into the water. After I re-apply your sunscreen once again, we’ll pack up and go home where I’ll fuck you into the mattress and make your favorite for dinner. How does that sound for today?”
Yoongi rolls his eyes and falls back into Taehyung’s arms, letting the younger turn him on his stomach so he can rub the sunscreen onto Yoongi’s back. “Why am I the only one who’s getting so much sunscreen put on them?”
“Because you’re as pale as the moon and I have to keep my little moon from being burned. Anyway, I need sunscreen too! You wouldn’t want the sun to burn me now, would you?” Taehyung teases, hands digging into the curve of Yoongi’s hips.
Yoongi pouts as Taehyung flips him over, holding himself above the elder with a beautiful grin spread wide across his lips. “Okay. But you realize it’s still technically winter, right?”
Taehyung nods. “I do. But it’s almost spring time and it’s warm enough for us to go into the water today. Anyway, we’re not alone. Jiminnie said he and Hobi would come soon. Jeongguk promised too.”
“Joonie is coming?” Yoongi asks, immediately sitting up and frowning when Taehyung giggles at him. “What?”
“Nothing. It’s just...cute how you get whenever Joonie is around, hyung,” Taehyung says, ducking down to kiss the frown off Yoongi’s lips before he applies sunscreen to Yoongi’s front. “You’re cute. Very cute.”
Yoongi knows his face flushing but he pretends to not notice as he grabs Taehyung’s face and kisses him again, a nervous, tingly feeling settling into his gut when they break apart and Yoongi breathes into Taehyung’s neck. “You’re cute too. Very cute.”
Taehyung laughs and pulls away, plopping himself down atop the blanket Yoongi brought. “My turn!”
The bottle of sunscreen makes a farting noise as Yoongi squirts some of it into his palms and he slaps at Taehyung’s back when his fiance laughs at it like a juvenile. Taehyung merely leers at him in response, turning over onto his back when Yoongi tells him to and tensing up as Yoongi’s hands trail down his sides and over his hips. Instead of starting a tickle fight like Taehyung expects him to, Yoongi clicks his tongue at him and sits back, closing the cap on the bottle of sunscreen, waiting for Taehyung to sit up again.
“I think Jimin is here,” Yoongi murmurs once Taehyung has settled himself into a more natural position.
“What makes you think that, hyung?” Taehyung asks, looking up from the waves to pin Yoongi with his stare.
Yoongi points past his shoulder, a frown marring his face. “Because only he would wear such a ridiculous hat for a day at the beach.”
Taehyung turns, eyes lighting up with delight when he sees Jimin running towards them, a very laden-down Hoseok right behind him. “God, that hat is ridiculous.”
“Tell him to take it off,” Yoongi mutters.
“What makes you think he’ll listen to me?” Taehyung chuckles out, his wide, rectangular grin never leaving his face.
Yoongi scowls now, arms crossed over his chest. “Because he’s your platonic soulmate. That’s gotta count for something.”
“You must know by now, that isn’t how it works. Jimin never listens to me,” Taehyung says and then, “Jiminnie! Your hat is awful!”
Hoseok drops all of their things on the sand, breathing heavily and sighing aloud when Jimin pouts at Taehyung’s greeting. Jimin pats his hat and sniffs, sticking his nose out into the air.
“No one appreciates fashion anymore,” Jimin says, nose still held high as Hoseok begins to unpack their things.
Yoongi sits up and decides to help Hoseok, leaving the two younger men to bicker over Jimin’s hat. Hoseok gives him a grateful smile and when they’re done, he throws himself into Yoongi’s chest, arms wrapped tight around him like an octopus. Yoongi pats his head and tries to catch Jimin’s eye, but Jimin is still busy arguing with Taehyung and that’s how Jeongguk and Seokjin find them a little while later.
Namjoon, Seokjin and Jeongguk’s little boy, throws himself atop Hoseok, wiggling around until he’s able to get in between him and Yoongi and nestles himself comfortably. Hoseok giggles while he does it, Namjoon’s arms grazing over his sides. Jeongguk sets up all their things in a flash, even helping Seokjin put sunscreen on with a smile on his face afterward.
“Glad you could make it!” Taehyung yells as soon as Seokjin has finished putting sunscreen on Jeongguk, tackling the younger to the ground. “Gukkie! I really thought you guys wouldn’t come.”
“Joonie wanted to come,” Seokjin replies, gently pushing Jimin’s hat off his head. “Jimin, your hat is hideous.”
“No one appreciates fashion anymore!” Jimin yells again, glaring daggers at Yoongi when he notices where Hoseok has hidden. “Hobi-hyung! Cuddles!”
Hoseok goes willingly, arms held wide open for Jimin as they sink to the ground, sprawling out across their towel and Yoongi sighs, grateful to have Namjoon all to himself. Namjoon curls into him, pouting when Seokjin calls out for him to put sunscreen on.
“I’ll do it,” Yoongi volunteers, holding a hand out for the bottle that Seokjin promptly hands him.
“Make sure to get a lot on his face and shoulders. That’s where he burns the easiest,” Seokjin whispers conspiratorily, fingers flicking out to tickle Namjoon’s sides and wring a giggle out of his son.
Yoongi nods, opening the cap without much flourish and squirts some on his palm, rubbing it together before he kneads it into Namjoon’s arms. Namjoon lets him do it, willingly moving this way and that way so Yoongi can properly coat him with the sunscreen. When he’s done, Namjoon giggles and clings to Yoongi’s chest again, nuzzling his face into Yoongi’s collarbone.
“Joonie, you don’t want to come into the water with me?” Jeongguk asks, suddenly towering above them both, blocking out the sun.
Yoongi scowls at him, holding Namjoon even tighter to his chest. “No. Joonie’s staying with me.”
“But Joonie said he wanted to catch crabs,” Jeongguk argues, hands held out for the squirming Namjoon.
“Crabs! Crabs! Uncle Yoonie, I want to catch baby crabs with Appa!” Namjoon shouts, little body wiggling in Yoongi’s hold.
Yoongi lets him go, an affronted look on his face as Namjoon launches himself into his father’s arms and squeals happily when Jeongguk catches him with ease, hoisting him up high as they walk towards the water.
“Be careful!” Seokjin yells at them, sighing when Jeongguk stumbles and stands up to rush after the two. “Jeongguk-ah, you’re going to drop our son!”
As the two bicker, Yoongi crosses his arms over his chest and smiles when Taehyung’s arms snake around his waist, pulling him flush against his fiance’s warm chest. “And we’re back to square one.”
“Oh, the betrayal!” Yoongi says dramatically, holding a hand to his chest in mock offense. “I was left behind for crabs!”
Taehyung bursts into laughter, dipping his head forward into the curve of Yoongi’s throat and shoulder. “It’s fine, hyung. When he’s older, Joonie will avoid catching crabs with all his might.”
“Taehyung, don’t say that!” Yoongi nearly yells, turning in the younger’s arms to level him with an unamused glare. “He’s just a kid. Let him be a kid for a little while longer.”
“Fine, fine. I was just saying,” Taehyung holds his hands up, palms facing Yoongi as he continues to laugh.
Yoongi smiles and leans into Taehyung’s arms again, resting his back on the younger’s chest. “Thank you for putting this all together. I hate sand and sunlight and beaches, but this makes it tolerable at least.”
Taehyung is still laughing when he wraps his arms around Yoongi once more, a smile in his voice as he responds, “I know you hate all this, but I also know that you love all of us. Especially me.”
“Especially you,” Yoongi responds, looking out towards the sea, laughing when Seokjin screams as Jeongguk throws him into the waves, Jimin and Hoseok running in after him to escape Jeongguk’s wrath.
Namjoon is little ways from the water, a bucket beside him as he presses his hand into the wet sand, a delighted look on his face. Taehyung shifts behind Yoongi, bringing his attention back to him.
“Hyung?”
“Hmm?”
“Would you want kids in the future? A little boy like Joonie, maybe?” Taehyung asks, his voice low and quiet.
Yoongi smiles, looking over his shoulder to meet Taehyung’s gaze. “Yeah. After we get married.”
“After we get married,” Taehyung repeats, a breathtaking smile on his face that makes Yoongi feel like he’s falling in love all over again. “Yeah.”
