BIOGRAPHY

Belle always wanted to be something more. She wanted to see the world, she wanted to discover how things worked. Go to school. But all of those things cost money and with a father that gambled away all of their money, none of it was really an option. Belle spent most of her time trying to earn enough money to pay off her father’s gambling debts and nurse him back to sobriety. Still, she was slowly managing to put away small amounts of money, tucking it away where her father would never find it.

She was making plans to leave and finally see the world. Then her father came home one night, slobbering drunk and crying about a huge mistake he’d made. It took a while for her to drag it out of him; he had lost big. He had gambled Belle away in a game to Gaston. The man had been trying to marry her for years and now he would have her without even being tied down. The money she had stashed away didn’t even come close to buying her freedom, so she ran before he could come to the house.

She took a path into the darkest part of the woods, a place where old and terrifying fables kept anyone from entering for years. She ran until she found a castle overrun with vines and falling apart. Assuming that it was abandoned, she sought refuge inside. She quickly found that it was far from abandoned, when the master of the castle found her and had a fit of rage. Still, she asked that he would allow her to stay, offering the pittance of money she had left. He told her she could only stay if she promised to never leave. Reluctantly, she accepted the deal.

Life in the castle was volatile to say the least. She was often involved in screaming matches with the man she referred to mostly as the beast, but had plenty of quiet, intellectual conversations with him as well. She still wished for the chance to see new places, but grew comfortable. Then the world went dark and they found themselves somewhere entirely new. Belle was excited for the chance to learn so many new things about so many different worlds. She knows that Adam has more difficulty adjusting, but she does her best to make it easier for him.

BIO UPDATE

Soon after arriving in Fableton, Belle was blackmailed into marrying Gaston.  The marriage was a disaster, with Gaston treating her more like a slave than a wife and inevitably cheating on her when she refused to sleep with him.  Belle hit a very low point after her husband’s affair, believing she was trapped in such a nightmare of a marriage.  The only real bright spot in her life was Eric Moyer and his son Lukas, who helped her as she struggled and then stood by her when she decided to divorce Gaston (something that was unheard of back home).  Finding herself single again, Belle dated Hercules Alcides for a while, until her relationship with Eric unexpectedly turned romantic.  The two have been together ever since, with the only hiccup being a time when trust was broken as Belle was under a spell causing her to act completely opposite her normal self.  While she is not ready to admit it, Belle has fallen in love with Eric, and she considers him and his son to be her family.

CONNECTIONS

Gaston Roche: As much as it disgusts her that she was nearly sold to him, like some sort of animal or property, they’ve maintained a wary friendship since their divorce.

Eric Moyer: A longtime friend, their relationship turned romantic once she was free of her obligations to Gaston.

BIOGRAPHY 

Lancelot had first seen the face of his future through ripples of clear waves, behind the shadow of the great sword as it raised by his mother’s hand from the water. He’d wondered what she meant, when she’d asked him to look, still so small and unknowing of the world beyond the lake. As the years went by and she blessed him with every skill within her power, the more he understood of the Boy King and the dry earth and the role he had to play. He was important, she’d told him, and she did not trust fate alone to make it so.

By the time she’d birthed him of her shores, however, the Boy King was merely a King and his grand role seemed to weaken as the understudy of a greater knight. It took work and time and countless missions, smile by smile, friendship by friendship, as he climbed the social ladder and found himself at the seat of the king himself. There were formalities and protocols one had to follow. But underneath it all, he saw something of himself in the other man, the flip side to his coin. They shared so many traits: both lost in an unfamiliar world, surrounded by grand duties and prophecies unbeknownst to them, with no real family to call their own; and, he soon discovered, one heart beating for a tress of blonde hair and a teasing smirk on the head of their Queen.

At first, he prayed the fluttering in his chest was to unexpected exposure. He’d spent most of his life with the Lady of the Lake and her alone. Any woman would turn his insides so, he’d reasoned. But the more he tried to focus his attention to the maids of the castle, the more he found his eye drifting to the only one he should not have. And in turn, he wondered if her eyes drifted back. He’d tried not to seem too eager when Arthur had entrusted him with her protection while Arthur was abroad. He tried not to bow to her every whim, though it filled him with joy every time he knew he’d pleased her. He tried not to return her kiss in the small tower room he’d been sent to save her from, while her husband was much too busy dealing with more important matters. Though his lips betrayed him then and every moment since. His life from that moment forth was an effort to save her honour. Each trial she put before him, he vanquished. Each scorn, he overcame. Until he stood red-handed in the castle courtyard, dripping with sweat and blood curling his hair, in search of the woman they were set to burn. 

Only to find she was not there.

He fought his way back out and rode and rode and rode, on and on, until the forests, even through the darkness, stopped seeming familiar, the lights in the distance didn’t look so much like home, and the horse’s hoof struck a kind of stone he didn’t recognise. He sold his armour at the nearest shop, his horse at the nearest stables, and his skills to anyone who needed them.

CONNECTIONS 

Arthur Pendragon: Lancelot knows his former king is here, though he’s tried to keep an eye from afar. The last time they’d seen each other, Arthur had vowed he’d kill him if he ever saw him again. He whole heartedly expects him to keep that promise.

Guinevere Pendragon: He eventually came to realize he was in love with her, the worst possible person for him to fall in love with, but he was never clear on her sentiments about him.  He isn’t sure if she’s his blessing or his curse, but he definitely has a soft spot for her and a need to make sure she’s safe. 

Hades Drakos: If there’s one consistent thing about powerful men, it’s their need to hire protection.  Lancelot finds Hades no exception, and is willing to be his go-to, trusted guy -- for that kind of a job only.

BIOGRAPHY

To work in the palace was a great honor, or so Dimitri’s father kept telling him along with how lucky Dimitri was that he got him a job when such a thing was scarce. Nevermind that Dimitri was only a young boy when he started working in the kitchen. Still, in a way it was a magical childhood despite the harshness of the kitchen staff and his father’s constant drinking. Dimitri grew up around everything that glittered and shined though he was never permitted to touch or even stare at them too long, the young princess especially.

It was easy for Dimitri to get overlooked, in fact most of the time no one took notice of him at all which gave him leave to explore the palace. There wasn’t a soul alive who knew the palace better than Dimitri so when he saw the young princess and her grandmother get separated fleeing royals he knew he could get them out safely. The young girl may not have ever known his name let alone that he existed before that moment of pushing them through a secret passage, but he knew she didn’t deserve to die. Dimitri stayed behind to face the angry mob to buy them enough time to escape. Of course he was only a child and was easily knocked aside.

Dimitri never knew if the young princess made it out safely, he had only rumors of her fate. He held on to her golden box that she thought was worth risking her life to remember her by. Though, as he got older and the boyish crush wore off he told himself that he kept it to complete the ultimate con. After the fall of the Czar Dimitri only had his wit to get by on, and in order to survive he did whatever he needed to do.Stealing, forging, whatever he could. He had a knack for it after all. With the help Vladimir, a fellow conman and the best forger around, Dimitri made a name for himself in Saint Petersburg. Dimitri was the one to go to for forged papers or anything that someone might need.

Finally it came time to complete the greatest con in history, the con that would set him and Vlad up for life: returning the beloved Princess Anastasia to her grandmother. He had her golden music box, he had the inside knowledge to convince the Dowager, and he had three tickets to Paris. All he needed was the right girl to play the part. Finding her was difficult, of course, but when he did, she was amazing. But these things never go as planned no matter how carefully planned they are. First, he made the mistake of dancing with her and started to develop feelings for her. Second, she wasn’t pretending; she really was the lost princess. Third, she overheard about the money.

Before he could tell her the truth about who she was, the con, or even how he felt, she was slapping him across the face and running out of the ballet. He knew he couldn’t convince her that he never meant to hurt her, but he could at least make things right by reuniting her with her grandmother. At leas,t that was the plan. However, before he could, he was pulled into this new world. This world wasn’t all that different from what he knew, not really anyway. Dimitri saw a need for the right papers, though it wasn’t always easy getting people who were often suspicious to trust him enough. But everything is easier when you’re connected. He didn’t know if Anya was even in Fableton, but when he found her, he did what he should have done from the beginning and told her the truth. Much to his surprise she believed him and even forgave him, proving that maybe kitchen boys do end up with the princess.

CONNECTIONS

Anastasia Romanoff: He loves her that much he knows, but he can’t begin to understand what’s going on with her. Dimitri would do anything to keep her safe and to make her happy even if that means opening his mind to something otherworldly.

Megara Valis: He has no idea why his co-worker is hostile towards him, but he tries to stay away from her as much as possible. It makes it a bit lonely to work there, but he’s used to that.

Hades Drakos: Dimitri doesn’t trust him by any means, but they have an understanding. Hades gives him names of anyone who might be in need of official papers and Dimitri gives him a cut of the profit.

We all know the story of a girl who fell down a rabbit hole into a confusing world that had little to no sense in the way that it worked. But few know the story of after she returned home from the looking glass and told her stories. For years, Alice was kept locked up tight in her house, as her family feared the disgrace it would bring to their name if she began to tell her wild stories to her peers.

Until she escaped. Back through to Wonderland, and more mad than ever from the years spent alone in her room. In Wonderland, the Queen of Hearts once again took to hunting down Alice to chop off her head. Alice hid with the few friends she had, if you could call them that. The insanity of Wonderland only pushed her further and further, till she matched those around her.

When all of Wonderland was finally pushed into the real world, she struggled to make sense of a world with rules that didn’t change and where everything always stayed the same size. Alice herself was madder than ever, having watched Wonderland become nothing as her own laughter echoed in emptiness without her friends. Now, she wanders Fableton, trying to figure out reality and insanity and which is which.

CONNECTIONS

Cheshire Cat: She regards the cat with no small amount of frustration, as he never seems to be able to give her a straight answer for any question, no matter how simple.

Dorothy Gale: In the little time she’s been in Fableton, wandering and thinking it’s all quite mad, she’s seen the girl with her monstrous dog who seems as odd as Alice herself. In an insane world gone sane, could another insane person be a friend?

BIOGRAPHY

She spent thousands of years trapped in a cave, trapped in a lamp and being unable to reveal her mortal identity to the point she forgot her own name, appearing to others as they expected her to be rather than as she truly was.  It was about as wonderful as it sounds.  After years of being literally-bound and honor-bound to serve whomever her lamp-house fell to, being free was disorienting. That’s a bit of an understatement if anything.  She’d defied time and space, defied classification and characterization, for so long she didn’t know what to become.  Freedom from following orders was amazing at first and Aljunni traveled the world, making three wishes the theme of her exploits because it gave her some comfort. She’d find three things she wanted to do in any given place and then -- poof!  She was gone.  It wasn’t quite so easy without magical forms of travel available on her whim, but she’d made enough contacts to find her way around and make do.

By far her favorite master, of course, was Aladdin, the only person who had ever kept their word.  There is no way she can repay Aladdin for the gift of her freedom.  There’s no way she would ever ask him or his lovely wife, Jasmine, for guidance.  They got married and found their way, both in the old world and seemingly in this new world.  It would probably be insulting somehow now for her to use them as a touchstone of some kind when she’s still so lost.  Once she was free, she asked the couple to gift her with a name -- and then she left. She’s become a bit of a gypsy, wandering around and never settling down.  Somewhere deep inside her, though, that’s all she wants to do and she can’t bear to reveal her true identity to them.

See, before there was a lamp and a cave of wonders and an Aladdin, or even the Middle East, there was a home in an ancient Mayan village in Mexico.  It was a simple place in a dusty land, different from where she ended up, but better for those differences.  As a child, she was the youngest of a large family, the cherished and slightly wild younger sister.  Back then she longed for a different kind of freedom, the same she later exercised to travel the world.  But oh, if she had it to do over, she’d go back to those days.  They were far simpler and direction didn’t matter.  She didn’t feel forgotten or alone.  While she would never be able to say what transformed her so completely, leaving her in a lamp to grant wishes, she believes it had something to do with her mother’s panic as they faced famine and starvation, her father’s mystical power, and the greedy hands of Spanish Invaders.  She’s dedicated a significant portion of her travels and self-granted three-at-a-time wishes, but to no avail.  In order to keep her spirits up, she’s spun some fantastical theories of what could have happened to her family and will continue doing so, no matter what time or place she’s in, until she knows what happened.  

Fableton is yet another chance to reinvent herself that Aljunni has never asked for.  Though she is gregarious and entertaining to be around, she rarely reveals her true desires.  They have remained the same: she wants to discover what happened to her people and she wants to build a family, for she is determined not to waste her hard won freedom on despair.

CONNECTIONS

Jafar Ajam: Saying she fears the man is a little extreme and untrue.  She doesn’t trust him one bit, though, no matter what world they’re in and she’s been keeping an eye on him, using her anonymity as a tool to do so.  She frequents the coffee shop he owns and has spoken with him a few times but has been very careful not to reveal her true identity.

Miguel Flores: She’s managed to trace her history to the Spanish conquerors who invaded the Mayan villages, and to one man’s vault in particular. Aljunni is mostly sure she spent a good amount of time in the man’s pack while he was traveling the world in search of wonders and riches. She hoped he would figure out that the lamp he carried was more than just a treasure he’d pilfered from his father’s stockpile so she could stretch her legs and test his wits.  He never did, though, and she knew when she heard his voice that he was the one.  She’s torn between revealing herself and explaining the crazy story or staying away from him.

BIOGRAPHY

Snotlout was meant to be a chief. He was only accident away from being next in line, if his cousin Hiccup died or was unsuitable, he would be the next chief. And really, considering how awful his cousin seemed to be at everything, Snotlout figured he had a good chance at it. He just had to be good at everything, which he was. Maybe he wasn't as smart as Fishlegs, and maybe he got distracted by girls sometimes, but he was a Viking. They did that stuff. But he trained, and he hoped.

And then Hiccup went down in a fiery crash with his dragon, saving everyone, and Snotlout felt something. Guilt, mostly. That he had hoped for this to happen to his cousin, just so he could lead the tribe. It was so stupid, no matter how much his father had pushed, and he felt more than relief when his cousin emerged mostly whole. After all, a missing foot was far from crippling when it came to being a Viking, especially with a dragon at your side. And maybe Snotlout wasn't exactly content with being second best to his skinny little cousin, but he could live with it. He could find a nice girl. Settle down and raise a family. Even when Hiccup officially became chief, he could handle it the same way his father did with Stoick. Besides, it gave him far more freedom in the long run.

The new world was  more difficult to navigate. It wasn't Berk, it was full of strange people, and he didn't know how to handle it. He was good at being a Viking. Being a student? Not so much. 

CONNECTIONS

Astrid Hofferson: Once his true love, he may still have feelings for her on occasion. But now he mostly respects her strength more than anything.

Ruffnut Thorston: His new love, or at least he’s fairly certain. After all, the dating pool has widened a bit since they arrived in this new world, so maybe he can find an entirely new love.

BIOGRAPHY

Ruffnut and Tuffnut. Always a pair, inseparable to the end. As children, the two were often mistaken for one another, a fact she took full advantage of while she was younger. Of course, being a teenager and still mistaken for your brother was much different. She still loved her brother (and would deny it with her fists if she had to if anyone said it) but she definitely didn't want to be mistaken for him. He smelled and he was a boy. As much as she hated being a girl trying to make it in a boy's world, she was still a girl. She didn't particularly want to be mistaken for a guy all the time.

Her world turned upside down when Hiccup proved that dragons could be tamed. Before that, she just knew dragons were there to be fought, to kill, to run from. They were monstrous and without mercy. But then he proved that dragons could be tamed, ridden, could become friends. She was still frightened of the wild ones, of course, what sane person wouldn't be? But not her dragon. Hers and the rest in Berk weren't dangerous, or at least she wasn't frightened of them. They had even protected her.

The new world wasn’t as bad as she feared it would be when she first got oriented. The rest of her group thought of her as dumb, but that wasn't true. She just had a problem sitting still sometimes, and she knew as well as anyone else what it meant to be thrown into an entirely new world. It meant their entire way of life could die. She wasn't a Viking anymore. She wasn't a fighter. She was just a student.  It was kind of a relief.

CONNECTIONS

Snotlout Jorgenson: At one time he only annoyed her. He liked her, but that was just annoying. Now though... Well, now he’s kind of hot.

BIOGRAPHY

Along with her brothers and sisters (save one), Hera was really born when Zeus freed the lot of them from Kronos’ stomach.  In reality, that was the one time in her life she feels she was part of a group.  She’s always somehow felt set apart, which is sometimes good and sometimes bad.  While Greeks worshipped and feared her in equal measure as the Queen of the Immortals, as the Goddess of marriage, fertility, pregnancy, childbirth, and essentially as a champion of women, that was a lonely role in a lot of ways.  Even later, vacillating between a Greek and Roman aspect, she only managed to find limitations - never allies.

Her marriage to Zeus was not without its issues, like any marriage.  The start was a little rocky, with her turning down his initial proposal and him tricking her into it, but you know – there were things that made it alright.  She understood his shortcomings, and mostly he understood her temper better than most could.  And there was the small matter of her seeking revenge in painful and creative ways on the women he fathered children with.  But really, her own children were sort of a disaster and she figured the only way Zeus’ children wouldn’t be is if he made them with a mortal.  She was determined to be his best, and last, wife, and so she persevered.  Their playful moments were worth it and the times when they worked together, ruled together as King and Queen were the best of times for her.

She didn’t intervene much in the second Titan war, but the war with Gaea and the Giants definitely required her to do so.  Zeus was being an idiot, and so not only did Hera need to intervene, but so did Juno.  Her Roman aspect became the patron of one of his children, one she came to hate less than the others because of his survival under harsh conditions and his ultimate prevalence as one of the Seven.

Fableton is more of the same stuff, different day.  Her first go-round in purely her Greek aspect caused more problems than it solved.  After a brief retreat, she’s back and trying to be more even-tempered.  She wants her marriage to flourish, she wants to keep an eye on these demigods, and she wants to figure out why they’re all here before it’s a problem to be stuck in this fishbowl.  And maybe she wants to have a little fun – so what if her definition of fun involves mind games and seeing just what she can get mortals or immortals alike to do her for her?  The immortals are all her family and she’s nothing if not the expert on what makes a perfect family.  She’s also very willing to prune the tree to keep it in shape if she needs to.

CONNECTIONS

Thalia Grace:  She didn’t love the girl to begin with.  Obviously.  Then the little brat had to go and join the Hunters of Artemis and eschew everything Hera held dear.  The only thing keeping Thalia alive is Hera’s attachment to her brother, the apple of both women’s eyes in some way, but even that may change.  Hera is watching.

Castor Tyndaridae: Possibly the only person who hates her husband’s slutting around more than she does, because it has caused much divide between he and his beloved, sniveling twin brother.  Hera has a soft spot for the boy and wants nothing more than to make sure he has a blessed marriage and a rich progeny.
