“Did you slip this into my pocket?  Because I want to say thanks to whoever did it but I’ve hugged so many people it’s getting a little weird.  Why is there so much hugging at weddings?  I get the kissing and the dancing and the cake, but the rest is sort of crazy.  Thank you for coming.”

“Lukas, come out from under there.  If your father sees you crawling around like that, we’ll both be in trouble,” she warned, scooping him up when he reappeared.  “Sorry about that.  Hope he didn’t get any sand where it doesn’t belong.”

“The ceremony was so beautiful. I can’t believe I was able to witness it.” She grinned, not really caring who was paying attention to her. “The cake was amazing, too.” She sighed happily. “I really do love weddings.”

“Would you like a slice?  The groom was very particular about the cake, but I think it came out really nicely.  Not that I’m surprised.  My boss is a genius when it comes to cakes.”
