Since Juniper ran away from home, she’s had a hard time trusting anyone. At first, it was because she knew her father had men out looking for her. She couldn’t return to that life. She wouldn’t. She’d rather die. Since being in Fableton, it has been more of a force of habit. She doesn’t know if her father still lives, here or otherwise and she’d rather not find out. If that means trusting no one with her true identity, so be it.

Before Fableton, laughter had not been a noise Lankin was familiar with. It had perplexed him the first he’d heard of it. It sounded like the song, but you could tell it came from a different place inside. As often as he can, he avoids it. There is a certain lurch he feels in his stomach when he hears it, that reminds him he has stomach to lurch.

Kindness is rather a grey area for Arthur. He believes goodness and righteousness and duty. And, though a kind man is worth more than his weight in gold, kindness is not always the right thing for the situation. He values it, however, and tries his best at kindness where he can.

Arthur had never felt much of a connection to his blood-relatives. He called his sisters his sisters because it was a fact, but not because he particularly agreed with it. In the great scheme of things, he’d never had a family. Not a proper one. That which had fostered him as a child seemed to readily give it up as soon as found out his true identity, for the sake of respect - though he’d held Kay in his heart as brother until the day he died. The family of knights he thought he’d earned didn’t seem quite so faithful or loyal once he’d learned of Lancelot’s betrayal and that they’d known of it from the start. His family by marriage were hardly even worth mentioning.

He hadn’t realised how much the idea had meant to him until Aria had been born. She was the only true family he’d felt he had and he wouldn’t give it up for the world. Sometimes he wondered if his father had held him in his arms, the same way he’d done with his own daughter, and still decided to give him up. Part of him didn’t want to know.

Arthur does not necessarily despise technology as much as he might seem to. It has merits, he must admit, though he shys away from it as much as possible. He wonders if perhaps, had they these same resources in his own time, his marriage might not have failed so spectacularly.

For a long time, red was a colour Arthur associated with nothing but goodness. It was a fierce colour, loyal and determined. Romantic and daring. Everything one could wish for in a person. Though after the war, the tune changed. He finds no pleasure in it any more, masked by the memory gashes against pale skin.

In her youth, Maleficent had dabbled with new methods of magic, human magic, the sort of self-aggrandising magic that people who didn’t know much about magic practised. Magic with a K. She didn’t believe in it. Not much at least, though she thought there might be a few aspects she could borrow. But it was the dancing around a bonfire nude aspect that had drawn her. It certainly built the strange, foreboding image she’d intended, and it did disturb the townsfolk. There was nothing she liked more.
