[[ I actually had a successful Face Matching with my Pikachu today.
It was so adorable!
I found it is best with good lightening (as I was told) and if the DS is far enough away. (Somewhat bent elbow was what I did, resting the DS against my pulled-up knees.)
If you're having trouble with any that involving closing your eyes, wait for your pokemon to make a noise, that is their sign of appreciation so you can open your eyes again.
