The sudden appearance of someone who looked identical to you would certainly be a disquieting surprise. But if you think about it, there's nothing life threatening about someone merely looking like you. The real fear comes from having the rug pulled out from under this concept of self that we take for granted. Someone indiscernible from yourself and claims your name, shaking your position in society. In that instant you lose sight of who you are and the confusion sets in.
