REALLY, FACEBOOK?

Today Facebook announced its new ad rules:

It won’t limit political ad targeting or stop false claims in political ads.

FB says viewers will be given to “opt out” of targeted marketing.

But we have always said to Facebook. We want OPT IN and not OPT out!

FB rejected the idea of labeling paid political ads to indicate they had not been fact checked too!

Raging Grannies watched the testimony of yesterday's congressional hearing. While a Facebook VP testified that the platform must constantly adapt tools to make deceptive behaviors difficult, Tristan Harris, President and Co-Founder Center for Humane Technology, testified that we have regulations ensuring equal-price slots for political candidates on TV, but we allow platforms like Facebook to take the role of an information environment without journalistic standards, fact-checking, or any notion of care.
