Uhm how did you first figure out your plurality? Instill figuring it out myself..like withing the last month ive accepted that there's more than just me in here....
So, we've answered this often. But we've known to some degrees since we were really young.
We were assaulted in foster care, which resulted in our first split. That's when Cynthia first started showing up. We were later diagnosed with OSDD due to this but never really understood what it meant. We thought it was just some other ADHD thing.
For the longest time, I had thought Cyn was just the girl voice in my head that I wanted to have. And she kinda was. But as puberty hit harder, so did dysphoria and Aubrey split as a result. Not really having a name at the time and primarily being masculine. A lot of my time then was ingesting way too much TGTF media online and watching Ranma. So it's no surprise, Aubrey themself is a Ranma fictive.
For the next eight or so years, I'd really try to repress myself and operate mostly as a singlet until I started meeting more systems. We learned what, how, and who we were. We stopped masking and really started working on cooperation and compartmentalizing to better operate the meat mech. Unfortunately, it was around the time I had a string of really abusive people in my life back to back that made it hard to manage the emotional whiplash while switching. Cynthia, our protector, was really struggling. Aubrey was just always angry. It was really hard for her to manage fronting. Plus, the reception by even some of the people we thought we could trust most wasn't ideal. Being met with shock, fear, anger, and being blocked by people wasn't very encouraging, but we kept on the best we could. Learning about ourselves and plurality. What worked best for us.
Many see us all as wholly different people, but to us, we're a really median system. Facets of a whole. All parts of Larissa who have that extra bit of consciousness to act on our own.
We're still learning. Still finding parts of ourselves and trying to embrace them. As an example, for years now, we've considered ourselves ace. I mean, Aubrey is, but that's beside the point. Mostly, that was a lot of us self-shaming and repressing our hypersexuality. Once we stopped, Valerie started being able to stretch out her wings and exist with us. We've all adjusted pretty well to the succubus life~ Detangling sexual trauma was a first step. The rest is being patient.
In fact, many first steps with plurality are detangling trauma. Taking off the masks, removing the gags that prevent alters from speaking.
Give yourself room to figure yourselves out.
