Anne’s always hated small towns. Everyone knew everyone else, and everyone took great pride in trying to wiggle their nose into other people’s business in a way that made her increasingly uncomfortable. “wow, thanks! you sure know how to flatter a girl, Arthur,” she’s not offended, not actually. just fakes offense on her brows and rolls her eyes, knowing fully well he’s being honest. she looks tired because she is. it’s hard to sleep and she does everything she can to try and be useful, even if there’s some things she really should leave to the stronger men. carrying hay bales twice her weight, bringing in hunts large enough to keep her fed for several months. but she doesn’t like being useless and she knows that’s what Micah and Bill and Pearson and maybe even Dutch think of her. sometimes she thinks Arthur’s the same way, but then he smiles at her and makes her feel heard and... appreciated. it’s no wonder she’s so biased towards him. “what about ya come hunt with me, then? if you’ve got time for it. really would like having you around out there.”
