comes from a minor deshyr family (she won’t tell you which one, it’s a fun little secret) and is the youngest of three children
there’s a rumor her father was a casteless her mother had an affair with
her marriage was arranged when she was a teenager, but her father doted on her and allowed her to put things off to continue her studies of music or dancing or whatever other thing she picked up
when he died in 9:47, her mother attempted to force the marriage
effie snuck out of orzammar with her pockets full of jewelry in the back of a merchant’s caravan and made for the nearest town just as soon as she stopped feeling like she was going to vomit
has been on the surface for about 5 years total
met varric and was recruited as ‘rook’ after a fight broke out while she was performing a rather cutting song about local nobility in wycome or somewhere i haven’t decided
