Apologies for disappearing for so long, my friends. I've been quite busy with running the Dappled Forest, and taking care of Knox (who has recovered quite well from the poisoning!)
A year ago today, I took oaths in front of my family, friends, and my kingdom, swearing to love Knox Affean into eternity. As a gift, @fancy-feast-official sat and did a portrait of us in our coronation clothes.
The glass ball is a symbol of wisdom and transparency, and is traditionally held during the coronation by the person being crowned. The staff was made for my grandfather's coronation by my grandmother, and it symbolizes cunning and intelligence.
The tattoos are also traditional to the Dappled Forest, and are present on the faces of every ruler barring one (my mother, unsurprisingly). The green on my face signify good speaking ability and clear vision, so I'm not easily fooled. Knox also has the mark of clear vision, but it's mostly covered by the litham he's wearing, which was also worn by my father during my mother's coronation (the spouse's face is always covered). The sun (also tattooed) on both of our foreheads signifies wisdom.
Because it's spring, it's currently debut season in the Seelie kingdoms. I sadly missed the first ball, which is always held in the Dappled Forest, but I was told by Calla it was quite a show (in a negative way, sadly. Some people just can't follow the rules, can they?)
This post has gotten rather long, so I'll cut it short. Should anyone want to know more about the Dappled Forest's customs, my mailbox is always open!
His Majesty, King Fechin of the Dappled Forest
