Only a couple days late adding this one to the collection. A happy birthday to the twins, Calla Fogg and Prince Rowan of Naranthia. 28 looks well on the both of them. May the next year have less drama!

A very happy birthday to my beloved half-sister Calla, and her twin sibling (and my husband's adopted brother) Rowan. May the next year be bright and plentiful for the both of them.
His Majesty Fechin of the Dappled Forest
On this day 24 years ago, I was born. While my birthday has never been the most pleasant of times, the support of my family and friends have made me come to appreciate celebrations of my years on this earth.
Since my coronation, I've spent time going through old paintings in the Dappled Forest's castle. Recently, I found this old portrait hanging in an old study that was previously used by my mother, when she was pretending to work. It is quite sweet, all things considered. Of course, I don't remember it, as I wasn't even a year old at the time, but it is still quite nice to look at.
It is quite interesting seeing myself as a baby. There aren't many depictions of it, due to a combination of babies being hard to paint portraits of, and my mother's clear dislike of having someone younger than the age of 4 around the castle. Comparing the picture to myself now, though, there is some resemblance.
I made this silverpoint drawing of myself a week or so ago in preparation for my birthday. I tried my best to be honest about my appearance, but I fear that I might have made myself look more tired than I actually look.
The necklace is a gift from Knox when we first began courting. In elven countries, it is tradition to have a stone representing a family line, with partners swapping stones or combining them in one necklace when they decide to commit to each other for the rest of their lives. It's quite a nice sentiment.
Apologies for the long post. I might have gotten a bit carried away typing this out.
Sincerely,
His Majesty, King Fechin of the Dappled Forest
Apologies for disappearing for so long, my friends. I've been quite busy with running the Dappled Forest, and taking care of Knox (who has recovered quite well from the poisoning!)
A year ago today, I took oaths in front of my family, friends, and my kingdom, swearing to love Knox Affean into eternity. As a gift, @fancy-feast-official sat and did a portrait of us in our coronation clothes.
The glass ball is a symbol of wisdom and transparency, and is traditionally held during the coronation by the person being crowned. The staff was made for my grandfather's coronation by my grandmother, and it symbolizes cunning and intelligence.
The tattoos are also traditional to the Dappled Forest, and are present on the faces of every ruler barring one (my mother, unsurprisingly). The green on my face signify good speaking ability and clear vision, so I'm not easily fooled. Knox also has the mark of clear vision, but it's mostly covered by the litham he's wearing, which was also worn by my father during my mother's coronation (the spouse's face is always covered). The sun (also tattooed) on both of our foreheads signifies wisdom.
Because it's spring, it's currently debut season in the Seelie kingdoms. I sadly missed the first ball, which is always held in the Dappled Forest, but I was told by Calla it was quite a show (in a negative way, sadly. Some people just can't follow the rules, can they?)
This post has gotten rather long, so I'll cut it short. Should anyone want to know more about the Dappled Forest's customs, my mailbox is always open!
Warm wishes,
His Majesty, King Fechin of the Dappled Forest
