Would somebody kiss my forehead when I say Hozier’s “Nobody Soldier” is a great song to Grace’s conflict/story? I’m literally picturing the song to a visual edit rn like—
“I don’t want to choose between being a salesman or soldier.” Literally him having to choose between being a teacher or astronaut to be spent to space
“Just let me look a little older,” This part for me is Eva’s part, where she was already aging and the Earth nearly being frozen watching Grace’s vlogs (Just to emphasize the part where Grace wanted to stay on earth and would rather die when the planet freezes up.)
“Let me step a little bolder,” Very very important part where Grace told Yao about their bravery to board the hail mary when Yao told him it wasn’t a gene but to truly find someone to brave for
“Choose between being a butcher or a pauper,” Please don’t throw a tomatoes at me if I misinterpret this lyric but anyway, butcher as he is teaching his students (?) and pauper means a very poor person but I think I changed this to the fact that Grace is alone or when Eva calls him out about how he has no immediate family member nor a dog and how he gazes sadly into a polaroid of himself
despite being surrounded by his kids/students, he’s very much alone
