Reunion
A scene from a drabble that is in the works with my Druid Sylara, her daughter Faefyre, and her twin, Feyrin
The soft pale flicker of light had caught his eyes when it had drifted past his window in the twilight gloom of dusk, a rare sight so close to a settlement, and Algrim had followed the wisp on a whim, curiosity kindled by the cool glow of faerie fire. There was always something to be found if one was brave (or foolish) enough to follow a will-o’-the-wisp, be it some hidden treasure or passage to an early grave. The elf, however, was not overly concernced about the dangers that were attributed to ignis fatuus as its lure held no sway over him, but merely promised a riddle to solve or a mystery to discover.
He watched the orb of light dance between the ancient trees, advancing and receding to attract the attention of any guiless wanderer who might happen to cross its path. Algrim followed it along through the dark forest until he arrived at the edge of the marshlands where he paused, watching the pallid wisp float above the stagnant waters where no ray of moonlight touched the inky surface.
“Well?” he called out softly to the lone spirit, voice tinted with amusement, “are you seeking to drown me?”
