“I feel like I’m up to my eyeballs in things I need to have read months ago.” Coming from a book worm as a complaint, this was quite an accomplishment. If ever a thing were to manage it, though, the sudden employment as a public servant several dozen stations above the highest you expected to achieve in life would be just the thing. Hetty’s shoulder’s sagged. She bit her lip. “D’you think that lets up at all, could we catch up? Or does it just get worse?” She’d hate never to have time to read something of her own interest, again.
surrounded by carnage , standing in the wreckage of what once was home , harriet hadn’t really expected to receive any good news at this point . the past week had been bombshell after literal bombshell , and just because the battle was over didn’t mean that she could rest at all . but a familiar figure entered her line of sight , and her breath had instantly caught in her throat when she registered who it was . she stepped closer , almost unable to believe it was really him , after days of not hearing from him at all . she chews on her lower lip , trying to suppress the urge to lose her composure . “ ... you came back . ”

— @faetaels gets a starter for soren from asher .
asher had never wanted to go to auradon. he had wanted to stay with the jolly roger crew, he had wanted to sail against the invading army, clear the strait of ursula, pick off the enemy captains from the crows nest with the sun at his back. instead he had been sent into auradon after nina gothel and ever since he had found himself tugged in different directions. now it would seem that they were running from hot, searing flames with two hopelessly inefficient companions. thankfully, they had a moment to themselves with the wind pushing the flames away from them, time enough to catch his breath. asher wiped his brow with the back of one hand, and offered the other to soren, ❝ we haven’t formally met, i’m asher. sharpshooter for the jolly roger. ❞
— @faetaels gets a starter for edwin from chad .
he can still taste the rank smell of rot in the back of his throat as the pair of boys wander down the streets of auradon city. it's eerily quiet, the devastations of a battle that had moved on still clinging to parts of the road and the buildings that they passed. chad had never taken much notices of the city, of the cobblestone paths, or the architecture, but he couldn't seem to stop noticing it now. it all looked so different. ❝ how long did they have you down there? ❞ chad asked, partly curious, and partly to fill the silence.
sassy comebacks, braided hair, platonic friendships with women, looked at ships with wide eyes???

“Let me guess- it’s all doom, gloom and irreparable despair?” Somewhere between a joke and a genuinely frustrated question. “Try me.”
@faetaels asked : “love is a fucking scam.” from cj
"That sounds like the words of someone that's scared of it," Jane declared lightly, setting the plate of food down in front of CJ and halfway expecting to have it flung back at her. While CJ was only a year younger than Jane was, the best way to describe her fits of emotion would be 'temper tantrums' and while the little details Harry had let slip about Captain Hook insured that Jane didn't think CJ had it easy growing up, it seemed obvious that CJ was still the spoiled baby of the family, at least where her siblings were concerned.
When the food remained on the plate and CJ in her seat, Jane propped a hip against the edge of the table, the surface of it dark from the stain Jane had so carefully applied to make it look newer and last longer. " So is that why you ordered the lost soul casserole? Is it a commentary on something?" There was a note of pride in Jane's voice that she was learning the menu and could make that sort of quip, but teasing CJ wasn't something that Jane thought she could do in large amounts. She was pushing her luck towards an expletive riddled outburst as it was, if the look on CJ's face was anything to go by. "But your love life is your business."
Smoothing the edges of her apron as she straightened, Jane shrugged her shoulders and tucked a stray piece of hair back behind her ear as she looked at the other customers in the Chip Shoppe, making sure she wasn't keeping anyone waiting. "I'd ask if you needed salt, but I think you have that covered." A shout from the kitchen and Jane's head turned sharply before the rest of her body followed, focus returning to her job as she called out in parting, "Enjoy your meal."
