Hamilton Food and Drink Festival March 24 2012
Starting out at Fahrenheit Coffee for amazing coffee and muffins. We the ran down Jarvis to St. Lawrence Market for Peameal bacon sandwiches for the trip.
Off to Union station we found out there was an express bus to Hamilton and hopped that to escape our beautiful city for the day and go to the Hamilton food and drink festival.
*also the question to the life the universe and everything. The bus platform to go to the food and drink show.
I'm not all that well acquainted with Hamilton and have not been there in quite a few years. I do have the streak most of us Torontonians carry of a good natured rivalry between Hamilton and Toronto. For example I'm pretty sure the Tiger Cats play out of Never-win Stadium. The bus station in Hamilton is really nice. I guess I used to run down subway stations so i was a bit impressed.
*ooh aparently you can land your TARDIS wrong.
Not exactly knowing the landscape we walked across town to the Careport Centre. The food and drink fest was fun. We had a good talk and some phenomenal beer from Grand River Brewing. As well as Cameron's , Creemore for the Kellerbiere, Lake of Bays whose 10 Point IPA was phenomenal, Wellington and a few others. I only tried one wine the Long Neck, I choose it for the Giraffe on the bottle it was actually pretty good.
As for food we tried cupcakes, pasta, crab cakes, a delicious potato soup and a few other things. The mohitos were welcome and extremely good.
When we had our fill we jumped a cab back to the bus station and zipped back to Toronto on the express bus. We then headed out to Bryden's at Bloor and Jane for a huge plate of nachos and fantastic local beer.
