So what do executive functions do?
The parts of your brain that make up executive functions allow you to understand the link between past behaviors (going to school/work late last week) and the creation of future plans based off of the past behavior (make sure to add an additional 10 minutes to your wake up routine). They are in charge of managing your decisions based on the environmental stimuli that you receive throughout the day and creating strategies to get the end result that is required.
So.....What are Executive Functions?
Executive functions are a set of cognitive processes that your brain goes through that allows it to connect past actions or behaviors with present situations and then act accordingly. These processes is made up of a number of cognitive skills that work together to help you reach your goals through an organized set of directives. By working all together, your executive functions allow you to manage your goals and expectations throughout your day
