Richard Nylon's "Feathering The Nest" tour at The Johnston Museum was launched with a loving tribute and lots of laughs tonight by Katie Somerville, the National Gallery Of Victoria's eminent fashion curator. The nine rooms and their tangle of meanings are a revelation best savoured in quieter moments than tonight's jolly, shoulder to elbows crush of Melbourne's most artful and gorgeous but, no one was complaining. Tickets for a rich programme of walks talks and workshops, including mine with the man himself on August 12, are open for bookings now. Notice that a certain chap's missing from this flip; I lost Mr. Nylon in the crush of his many admirers. As you do. But, I did catch up with his inimitable Gwendolynne, elegant in bridal white - twice. I also, very happily, flew into the arms of The Johnston's marketing executive Felicity Cook, as sweet and cheerful, chic and cheeky as she was the last time we saw each other 40 years ago. (Yes - F-O-R-T-Y years ago). That was a night and a half my friend. #TWJmuseum #richardnylon #featheringthenest #artandmillinery #museum #thejohnstonmuseum #Williamjohnston #fairhall #millinery @twjmuseum @richardnylon @gwendolynne #art #creativity #fashion #unmissable #reallyreallyunmissable (at The Johnston Museum, Fairhall)
