“Emma... the test was positive. There’s not anything else to be sure of.” The results on the test had been so prominent that there was no doubt in her mind that her daughter was going to have a baby.

Coming home from the games had been one thing but reliving the moments every year they came back it hit her like a wall. She remembered every moment of the games and now she had to do her best to help her charges. Merlyn spun the glass of whiskey in her hand the only thing that seemed to work to push back the monster that hid in the darker corners of her mind. “You might as well pass the bottle, luv.” She motioned to the poor soul who had the misfortune of being behind the bar.
The games were continuously being played on every screen and every speaker in the Capitol, there was no way that you could miss it, even if you tried. There were times when Haymitch would slip away to get a breath of fresh air or a drink of liquor, but his eyes rarely left the screens and he never strayed too far, just in case he needed to convince one of the sponsors that Katniss was in dire need of something.
Haymitch sighed and took another swig of his liquor as his blue eyes fell on the woman sitting next to him. Technically, Haymitch knew that he should see her as an opponent of some kind, but they were both there to keep their kids alive and he couldn’t fault her for it.
“It looks like it’s been a long day for both of us.” He said, nodding towards the bottle as the barkeeper slid it across the bar for her. Haymitch was notorious for drinking at this point, especially after he fell off of the stage during the 74th Reaping in District 12. He had heard so many jokes about it at his expense this past week that it was beginning to get easier to just ignore it rather than getting angry about it every time someone brought it up. “How are your kids doing?”

“Look, people call me Mad Maddie for a reason. You’re best staying away...” She didn’t do well around new people. Made her anxious. Even in town, she only truly interacted with Ginny. Except when she was trying to bring down that sickening hero plot, never seemed to work though.
