Portal peak rant
To be honest I really wish I was born in a time when the portal fandom was really popular, like I know we’re lucky to still have a fandom now but look at all the cool stuff that happened then, people were making Wheatleys left right and center, portal was relevant in pop culture and ppl knew it off a whim, it was constantly praised for its innovativeness, fanfics were churned out, blue sky was at its peak, MORE WHEATLEY OBSESSION, AUs and so much fandom glory came out of its peak and I’m really sad I’ll never get to be apart of or see it, and don’t get me started on all the cool portal con meet ups, plenty of portal cosplays at relevenant cons and just so much amazing art and talent and love was poured in, now the fandom is significantly smaller with a lots of dedicated artists who I adore, but at the same time portal fading into obscurity hurts oddly in a way, might just be my obsessions but for the amazing work of art that the game is valves kinda let it fade into obscurity, which is super disheartening to me, and I know I could be interpreting this all wrong but portal deserves more recognition and popularity in todays media in my opinion. I don’t even know why I sparked this rant but I suppose with Fairlith (the director and actor for GLaDOS in the portal musical) selling her GLaDOS costume and boots off just kinda sparked that people no longer really hold the fandom as dear, made me a lil sad, wish I could have gotten the boots, but oh well I’m just a teenager what do I care.
Anyone else feel like, a profound sadness when watching portal the musical? Like I love the show to bits don’t get me wrong but at the same time, it’s highly unlikely something like this will ever happen again, the fact that I’ll never be apart of something like that with a bunch of people who care so much about the same media hurts in a way I can’t explain, and yet I still watch it, cause it is my comfort show no matter how much it pains me.
Or is it just me?
I wanna make a portal the musical video essay
[I’m horrible at talking to people but I want to just say this to Fairlith Harvey.
I think you’re wonderful. You have a beautiful smile and seeing you, in or out of character makes me smile. I love your singing and you seem like such a great person. Ignore any haters. They’re just too stunned by how incredible you are.
You should be proud of who you are. You’ve made me smile when I was down and you’re just a great person.
Thank you.
