His words comforted her in more ways than one and after sharing a few good corn dogs, some cotton candy and a ride on the fairs wheel; all the negative thoughts she seemed have vanished completely from her mind. It was past dark when they made their way back towards the parking lot, but they immediately noticed that Jimmy's pickup truck was nowhere to be seen.
"I cannot believe that no good rascal varmint!" said Clyde hotly; his fists clenched tightly at his side as he then started looking for Mellie's bright orange Mustang. It was gone as well. "They left us---they actually left us!"
"Relax, Clyde, we can walk." said Rey; hoisting the bear Clyde had won for her over her shoulders. She thought it would go quite well with what little items she had brought over with her from England, which sadly wasn't much. She had her rucksack with the clothes she had managed to nab before taking the nearest flight to America, a picture of her mother and father and a locket that her boyfriend had once given to her.
"It's about a ten mile walk back to the house from here---we'd get there just the dang sun was risein'."
