           " Heh ", hands on their hips, looking all too confident in words they only viewed as a joke. Neither was qualities Gran held and they knew as much, often lost once conversations was brought into the areas of education and books (now, if it was about airships however...). Zinkenstill didn't exactly provide teaching outside of farm work and the basics, and Gran was never very interested in studying on their own. They were fine with that and happily shared the work requiring such things to the people who knew it. Knowledge that came with age rarely mattered either, seeing as how there was plenty of people they knew who were older. Now, if the topic was about death and dying, then Gran could provide some valuable insight! Unfortunately, it wasn't exactly a popular one.

           " Great, isn't it ? Must be nice to be lucky ", and still they keep up the show of assuming his words were for them, the smirk and knowing look on their face enough to confess as such. It was all good to play around, right? Not as if Drang was awfully serious most of the time either.

   Oh. Well, that was boring. And not true, because, really, when was the last time someone actually stopped them? All's well that ends well, after all. At first there's the disappointment, formed into an expression of 'please change your mind', puppy eyes included. That, however, doesn't last long, because eventually Gran has mulled over it enough to decide that Drang was wrong and that no one was actually going to stop them. Because the crew didn't know, and Drang didn't seem too intent on doing it, and that basically meant Gran was free to do whatever they wanted, right?! Even if said thing was to explore a seemingly haunted and off-limits place outside of the city boundaries.

           " I'll be back for dinner ! " and as such, they turn around and start walking. As if Drang had been postive about the entire endeavor.

There’s a lot Diantha could probably think or say about Drang. About how, when she first saw him, he always seemed a bit shifty. About how, whenever he talked, it was always like he wanted a specific reaction with each word, yet any reaction - or even just any interaction, for that matter - delighted him. About how, if Strum’s sword wasn’t there to poke him when she needed it, the erune would talk the crew’s ear off to the point where things could get awkward with how much it seemed the man wanted to hear his own thoughts out loud. In a way, Drang almost irked him.

But it’s in the same sense that all of that action contrasts with his more silent or serious moments - however rare those were - that make her so intrigued by him too. In the way he can silent contemplate a serious action for even a brief second before becoming jovial again. The way his mischief seems to hide some sort of bite he’s waiting to use in a fight. The way he can worry over his past employer and her best friends. 

Or in the way she can see the sad look in his eyes when he stares down at that framed photo. Since he and Strum had tagged along on the ship to help with this delivery, it’s almost like her feelings of annoyance or guardedness have eased, and seeing Drang be such a night owl in such a scene is...She’s quick to go to her room to try to forget it, but it sticks with her. And she had wanted to drink tea as she was finishing up her writing for the night anyways - not like she could focus on this last paragraph with the image of a genuine frown, of all things, being on Drang’s face. So there’s rustling in the kitchen reserved for Sandalphon’s cafe, of course not open so late, or so early if you wanted to think of it that way. And she decides on a simple green tea, because matcha could be weird if not mixed in well, and she didn’t even known if Drang liked tea so this was a safe enough bet. And then she’s at his slightly ajar door, tapping on it with one mug while she extends the other one through the small opening, “I, um, saw you were burning the midnight oil too.” being the only excuse she can come up with to gain entry into the guestroom.
