The smell of Bliss rattles around in his head, shrouding his sense of SELF deep in the thick, green fog. Every inhale only saturated his lungs in the sickly sweet taste, coating them to where all he BREATHED was Bliss. Her haunting melodious hum echoes around him, enrapturing the deputy. Wasn’t he supposed to be doing something right now? Alder was almost CERTAIN he was supposed to…

Fogged up eyes lower towards the ground where a single flower lay. It looked strange, different from the rest of the serenity. Something in the back of his mind, a small tiny voice of REASON yells for him to reach out and touch it. 

Her hand comes out of nowhere, smacking sharply across his hands and forcing him to retreat, inches from touching the strange flower. Like a kicked puppy, brown orbs glance up to the woman who materialized before him. The very same hand that had smacked him lays over the red mark, smile APOLOGETIC.

☼ How does your character usually dress in daily life?

attire changes with the seasons, but this deputy’s does not. in the fall and winter months, he can always be found out in public with jeans, a heavy jacket covered in buttons and patches, and alder occasionally alternates between having gloves and a scarf to protect his hands and neck from the bitter cold. he always wears hiking boots or combat boots, liking the feel of them rather that normal shoes. less chance of getting blisters that way.

in the spring and summer, it’s a little different. he still wears jeans; alder has never been a fan of shorts because he doesn’t like the feel of them. he loses the heavy jacket and warm shirts in favor of loose flannels or short-sleeve t-shirts. here, alder does alternate between the boots and sandals. he does still lean more towards the boots, however. 

sometimes, he can even be spotted wearing a baseball cap or a beanie! weather depending.

✗ What (if any) scars does your character have?

before the whole shit with eden’s gate happened, alder scarcely had a few scars. while they were just a few he got from on-duty deployment, the majority of all scars he received were from the project and what he’s received from his run through hope county. after the initial helicopter crash, alder had gotten a bad gash over his brow, which was reopened in the car crash after confronting joseph. 

while he’s also gotten numerous wounds from explosions, animal attacks, and other, the most prominent was the word WRATH in his chest from john, a bullet wound in his shoulder and DEAFNESS in one ear by jacob, and burns across his shoulders from the BLISS FIELDS catching fire in faith’s area.

other wounds are much smaller, mostly cuts and scrapes that healed up well.

The mumble to Jason’s left in response is maybe so, and Jason claps a hand over his mouth to stop from laughing; they’ll die if he does, or at least suffer forced indoctrination from Faith’s delicate hands. Trust Jemima to say shit like that. He elbows her in the side; she chokes with a laugh and exhale of over-exaggerated pain.

But he has to focus -- cocks his gun as quietly as possible, as does Jem. Faith might have a point about all that, and Jay isn’t completely devoid of compassion or empathy, no ( because Faith isn’t a liar all the fucking time ), but he’d be an idiot to listen to a walking manifestation of danger.

Bronte has kept the crown; it was a gift, after all, and it’d be rude to get rid of it, despite how much they’d like to crush someone’s skull with their bare hands. And they could, too; they really believe they could by sheer willpower and force just--- manipulate solid bone to dust.

Anyway.

The copy of Joseph Seed’s words burns and crumbles to ashes, becoming less than nothing, reminding Bronte of a time when they’d burned Ronja’s classmate’s holy book. The classmate was a hypocrite, a liar, and a piece of shit who would grow up to be nothing anyway; Bronte doesn’t even need to look them up to know that he’d amounted to nothing.

Anyway! Task at hand--
