hey! i was wondering how u maintain a work ethic when it comes to your writing + how to keep improving and developing it- i used to write a lot and i just stopped because i became so focused on school and kinda lost the ability. anyway this is rambly but! i admire ur dedication
Hey there!! thank you!!
to answer your question; i’m not really sure if i have a work ethic, because i usually just. write when i want to write? like if i have an idea or need to express myself bc i’m feeling some things, etc i just write because i have to.
but the thing is. i have ideas like on the commute to school or out walking or just when i’m in my own head - i’ll write it down and file it away - and then i won’t touch it for months???
for example, one of my jily aus (fire in my bones) was thought of months ago when season six of PLL first came out, and it didn’t get written until nearly 12 months later.
bUT - when it comes to work ethic, i think you just need to be calm and have a place to just… write. and do it constantly and as often as you can (that being said, if things are not working or you don’t feel creative or its draining you, you can take a break)
this goes hand in hand with the next question, which is how to improve: write as often as you can. you’ll notice skills coming in over time. draw inspirations (don’t copy but you know what i mean) and just keep going.
and with developing - i find friends and people helping to edit stuff is so helpful because you get another view and can get more people’s opinions (and this is helpful after you’ve published work too) for example one of my friends and i are working on a hp au together and its so much easier when you can fling ideas back and forth between you.
in summary; write when inspired, take your time, improve with time and collaborate with people.
i’m sorry this was so long and i sound so pretentious lmao
thank you though!! <33333
