“Lady Scotch Club, the self-styled ‘Dixie Chicks of Scottish Jig’ first broke onto the scene in early 2019, and they’ve now released their first album. Consisting of Claire Campbell on vocals and accordion, Gina Mac on flute, and Robin Macgregor on fiddle, the group is adding a modern spin to a centuries-old style of music. For example, from ‘Bitter Twitter’:
I knew that you were cheating /
From the stuff that you were tweeting /
If you think I’m idiotic /
Then you have to be psychotic /
And their popularity is growing. Before live music became a thing of the past, women of all ages packed their concerts, screaming their lungs out to Lady Scotch Club’s equivalent of Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies,’ entitled ‘Delivered’:
I’ll be ordering in tonight /
And watching my favorite rom-coms /
Now that you’re outta my life /
Grubhub and scotch is way more fun /
I can’t recommend this album enough. Pour yourself some whisky and put this on ASAP.”
