The above posters (featuring photos of Belgian workers rioting during an anti-austerity demo in Brussels in 2014) are in reference to the #faketradie story from upcoming Australian federal election.
A few days ago the Australian Liberal Party released an election campaign ad featuring a ‘tradie (tradesman)’ sitting at a work site complaining about the Labor party’s supposed ‘war’ on banks, mining bosses and the economy generally.
The ad immediately went viral, with many declaring that the 'tradie' was 'fake', not least because he spoke with a strange, phony working class accent.
After a huge amount of news coverage it turned out the 'actor' was not an actor but a fairly wealthy metal worker and real estate speculator from the affluent north shore.
