Frida Kahlo, Falk Kastell
Painting for the Nationaltheatre Mannheim in Germany. The Ballet company Kevin O´Day performs the piece "Frida Kahlo" telling the story of her life. I was invited to paint a large canvas, on both sides, telling Frida´s story mixed with the characters from her cultural environment and the personalities of the dancers.

One day i invited over a friend to my Studio and asked her to take a seat. I looked at her once and then started to paint, without her knowing that it was her, whom i was painting. After a while she realized that is was her and she was mesmerized.

This photographic interpretation is inspired by the work of Gustav Klimt. Klimt loved to show love between humans and his works are world famous. I used the Jugendstil language and Klimts use of symbolic colours, flowers and setting, to show, how it is to fall in love.

La Primavera (Edition 1/5), Falk Kastell
This photographic interpretation is inspired by the work of Sandro Botticelli. During the Renaissance era, Botticelli painted a wonderful painting called "La Primavera" I reinterpreted the time, mood and figures that Botticelli shows and used handcrafted paperclothes with gold-leafed dried plants and flowers, to illustrate the love for detail and observation of nature prevalent in the Renaissance time. The dress as well as the background is made entirely from paper and dried plants, by the artist Susanna Cianfarini. http://www.susannacianfarini.de/
