porter loved his time with ariel. sure he got to do it rarely, but he treasured their time together. she seemed to like it to. he knew maybe when she was older she wouldn’t be okay with him always travelling and never really getting to have all the time her mother did, but maybe it would be different then. he refused to be like the other guys on his team, at least five kids with different women, not really known them all that well. sure ariel was far from planned, but he did love her.
he had made them dinner and gotten her all ready for bed. she had her own room at his place, though it wasn’t used as much as he would have liked. he even suggested that they all live together, but he could see why bailey didn’t want that. they had a very brief, barely relationship over three years ago, not serious enough for that. he hadn’t wanted more from her back then. now that she was the mother of his child though, things were different, at times. he had started tucking her in bed when she had pointed out, very eloquently, that she was missing her blanket. that had led to him searching her bags, looking through the apartment, to find nothing. had bailey really forgotten it? seemed very out of character, but she had been busy, getting ready for a date that porter wasn’t exactly happy about.
once they were at the girls’ apartment, he put his key in the door. “now remember baby, this is our secret, right? we’re like spies.” he told her, pushing the door open as she ran in, going straight to her room. he was a little more stunned at the fact that the lights were on, that bailey was home at all, actually. had the date really ended that fast. “uh, bailey?” he asked, intelligently. “is that you?” unless burglars were becoming a lot more cuter and blonde, he assumed it was.
