September Done, Bring on Preptober

I’m a little late with this post, as I try to post on Sunday or Monday, but I traveled to Connecticut for my little brother’s wedding.  The wedding was beautiful, and I have a new sister-in-law.  Connecticut in the Autumn, as someone who was born, raised and spent 30 plus years living the state, Autumn is magical.  The changing leaves, the temperature, the cloths, the pumpkin spice everything, just magic.  I did not want to leave considering the heat in Austin, Texas was 91 to 98 when we were away.  

Traveling and writing.  How are you with the two?  Usually, I can get some writing done at night at my mother’s house after the running around is done. I always try to be ambitious and give myself the goal of writing on the plane.  But let's be serious, being crammed into seats, I become self-conscious of writing, and what I’m writing.  Like the stranger next to me is going to be reading over my shoulder and judging.  It’s not like I am ever going to see that human again.  But I tend to go by watching a movie on my tablet.  The planes going from Austin to Chicago to Hartford, that's precisely what happened, I watched Endgame for both airways and then an episode of Animal Planet’s Animal Cribs.   On the way home, a beautiful thing occurred, the flights were not full, and my husband and I had two, not one but two flights where we had our own row, the middle seat was empty, we had room to stretch a bit.  The first flight this happened we traveled from Hartford to Baltimore a short hour and ten-minute flight.  I wrote the whole time.  The three-hour layover lent to some useful web searching and words to screen.  Then the second flight, Baltimore to Austin, a three-hour flight, it happened again, I finished the final boss fight of pokemon Eevee Let’s Go, watched Hocus Pocus, and wrote until we landed.     

A huge thank you to Google Docs for existing, I love Google Docs for writing.  It’s a free program, but not only that I have access to my documents from all my devices.  When I travel, I bring my laptop, tablet, cell phone, and switch.  I left my lap top’s charger at home and only used it for a work training lecture that if it weren’t complete, I would be suspended for my last three days.  Anyways the little bit of writing I did at night and on the plane was done between my phone and tablet, the document was marked to use offline, and as long as I hit a wifi area before changing between devices, the manuscript updated.   

A facebook post from the NaNoWriMo group gave a Preptober Get to Know You, as you might have seen yesterday, I am going to complete that each day until October 31.  This is going to be a stressful month moving to Nevada from Texas in less than two weeks, but goals still need to be made.  

Current WIP word count: 16,896 words.

Current WIP: Project Lost (writing) and Project AON (world-building and prepping)

Goal for September: 2,772 out of the 2,500 words needed (COMPLETED/MET)

NEW Goal for October another 2,500 words.

NANOWRIMO Goal this year will be to finish the first draft, whether that's adding another 50,000 or not, I’m going into NaNoWriMo as a rebel this year.
