I don't know where the ask has gone, but to whoever asked for a small drabble with The Ghoul and reader about him liking how Reader looks in his hat - this is for you! It seems to have vanished! But thankfully I had the drabble written down.
The Ghoul wasn't quite sure what prompted him to do it the first time. The rain was coming down in heavy sheets and maybe it was the way you grimaced as the acidic drops splashed against your face, stinging your eyes - but before he could comprehend what he was doing, The Ghoul placed his hat on your head and it stayed there until you both found shelter.
It looked good on you, he realized. So he didn't hesitate to slap it down on your head again when the sun was hot and near blinding over the Wasteland sand. He was use to it. You were not. It caused headaches and made looking through a scope difficult. So, The Ghoul shaded your eyes with the broad brim of his head. Not a word uttered. Just a gruff acknowledgement whenever you handed it back.
The third time it happened, it was mid-argument. He didn't really realize he did it. Not until you said something that made him scoff and to shut you up, he tugged the brim down low - making you laugh.
When you tilted your head back to look up at him - the way his hat framed your gaze, shadowing your face from the harsh sun...oh yeah, he liked the way you looked in his hat.
Now you were its second home. Whenever The Ghoul didn't need it, he wouldn't place it on a table or rest it on the ground - it found its way to your head. And then it started becoming a ritual whenever he had to leave. Giving you some order or slim reassurance that he'd be fine while placing the broad brim low over your eyes.
It was like a promise that he'd be right back to retrieve it. He'd always come back to you…to get his hat, of course.
Thank you for sending in that ask! Even tho it poofed from the inbox! Drabbles, head-canons, asks and short requests are open!
