Fallout76
A new Fallout Teaser Trailer has fallen into our laps.
From the trailer and previous instalments, a great deal is already known about Fallout 76.
Vault 76 is one of few that Vault-Tec created that wasn't a twisted social experiment. In fact, Vault 76 was designed to function exactly as the advertisements stated. Humanity would retreat underground and reclaim the surface after 20 years (or in this case 25 years). Why the vault remained sealed for another 5 years remains unclear.
However this is not the first time that Vault 76 has been mentioned. It crept into the lore during Bethesda's first instalment in the franchise in Fallout 3. Travelling to The Citadel and entering the 'A ring' will lead to a room containing a number of terminals. Accessing the 'Vault-Tec' terminal provides a list of vaults occupying the Capital Wasteland. One of them being Vault 76.
Focussing on the song in the trailer, it is believed that it has some significance. West Virginia is mentioned during the track, speculating that it may be based in this state. On the contrary, the phrase "take me home" could suggest a Washington D.C based map. However, do not dismiss the premise of West Virginia, as it borders with D.C and Virginia itself. This suggests that Fallout 76 could be based in not one, or two but three different states. A map of that size would be greatly appreciated by the players. But, unfortunately, it is highly unlikely the map will utilise all three full states. Thus leading to a conclusion that it would based across the border region, as shown below.
As mentioned earlier, Fallout 76 is set 25 years after the Great War. Within the particular region, the Vault is the earliest to open. Meaning, upon exit of the Vault there will be nothing. No major settlements, factions, shops/vendors, currency and next to no human NPC's; as they haven't had chance to develop yet. Also, to note, there would be no super mutants present as The Master would not have discovered the Forced Evolutionary Virus at this point. However, there may be a higher volume of ghouls and feral ghouls.
Base building will most likely return, with hopes that there are no limitations on building locations. As an example, fortifying a Super-Duper Mart into an impenetrable fortress.
There will be no comfortable living, and the ability to survive will almost certainly be a prominent factor. Diamond City like settlements won't exist. Thus, players will be forced the brave the wasteland and comb through debris to find a fan blade they've so desperately needed for three days.
This could be a breath of fresh air for the Fallout franchise, where it brings the whole community together. There is speculation that Fallout 76 could potentially be an MMORPG. This gives opportunity to role play, survive with friends, build epic bases, share loot, and make new alliances (or enemies).
The point not to forget is that this is a Fallout spinoff. So if it's poor, or becomes a huge failure; just pretend that it doesn't exist. As most did with Elder Scrolls Online. It may provide a fresh page in the Fallout book, with a new take on gameplay.
Please note that this information should be taken with a pinch of salt. It could all be wrong, the community could have a misshapen view on what is to come. Bethesda will release more information at E3 2018, during their press conference on June 10th.
