False Bugbane
Also known as tassel-rue, False Bugbane (Trautvetteria caroliniensis) is blooming in forests up to mid-elevations. Its flowers do not have petals but are balls of white, tassel-like stamens and styles.
Snow is melting out quickly in the subalpine meadows, but patches remain. Subalpine wildflowers have a short window to grow and bloom and are easily damaged. Please stay on trails, even if that means crossing over sections of snow still on the trails.
