Thinking abt when Marvin said “slap my face or hold me ‘til winter…oh baby please do” WHAT IF I CRIED. Please it’s so important to his character when he actually begins referring to Whizzer in a romantic light rather than solely using his language and wording as a way of practically denying his true feelings towards whizzer as a coping mechanism for his internalized homophobia WHICH IS SUCH A SKILLFUL CONTRAST IN ACT ONE WHERE MARVIN PRACTICALLY ONLY REFERS TO WHIZZER AS HIS FRIEND TO ACT TWO WHERE HE BEGINS ACCEPTING HIMSELF AND FINALLY ALLOWS HIMSELF TO CALL WHIZZER BY OET NAMES AND EXPRESS HOW MUCH HE ACTUALLY LOVES WHIZZER (especially his whole song What More Can I Say)…AND NOT ONLY THAT BUT HIM FORCING WHIZZER INTO THE STANDARD FEMININE ROLES IN SOCIETY AND EVEN BELITTLING HIM AS BEING LESSER THAN HIMSELF IN THE WAY THAT WOMEN WERE BELITTLED FOR NOT BEING SEEN AS ON THE SAME LEVEL IF INTELLIGENCE AS MEN AUGHH And Whizzers knowledge that Marvin is doing this and his struggle to keep up with it and his resentment to his role Marvin has forced him into both slowly leading up to the eventual loss of love towards Marvin, or rather, inability to continue their relationship as is…I love falsettos sm I apologize to my boyfriend who has to deal with me saying stuff like this to him every two seconds
