I want to add that in this au. i think Henrik would not know about magic or familiars or anything at first. so sometimes his friends Marvin and Jackie have a cat and sometimes they have this other brother (he thinks) Chase who lives with them. he asks what the cats name is and Marvin panics and says it’s Chocolate Pancakes and now every time Henrik comes over and Chase is a cat he goes “Pancakes!!!” and comes over to pet him because he loves animals. maybe he is even their veterinarian in this au skgjndfd. and then all of a sudden they have a perfectly trained but nervous little dog. but sometimes he’s gone. and sometimes there’s a very nervous man who is not another brother?? he thinks?? and they are all very very caring with this dog!! and explain everything to him for some reason!! they introduce him to the dog like “JJ this is Henrik, he’s a friend of ours, he’s very nice” and they tell him “JJ, a pizza man is coming to bring us food, he won’t hurt you!!” and they give him orders that aren’t one words instead it’s like “JJ do u mind scooting over on the couch” and JJ does and it’s slightly odd but Henrik just goes with it!! the animals are very friendly so he doesn’t much mind, he will pet Chocolate Pancakes for hours. he can be a very self-satisfied looking cat. Henrik is also one of those people who kisses animals and hugs them and picks them up and baby talks at them and Chase just has to deal with that from one of his close friends who does not know he is also a human kdfjgfdkg (he loves it tho really good scritches from Henrik). nobody knows how to break it to him. they never planned for it to go this far lolllll

Jackie was definitely jealous as HELL when Marvin got like a free best friend from the universe (they were all like thirteen) and he bought himself a hamster from the store and he was like “this is MY familiar” and his name was No Ziggity and Marvin would get so annoyed when Jackie pretended he could talk to him the same way he talks to Chase

Chase is scared of dogs but he hates to admit that when he’s human so he’ll just be like hiding behind Marvin and laughing all nervous secretly hoping his master will get rid of it

but he wants to help JJ so when he’s around him he’s like a bundle of nerves but also trying so hard to be nice haha

Chase’s cat form was a kitten until he was like eighteen. Marvin had a kitten for like five years. it was the best and he is constantly sad that Chase grew up. “Why’d you have to get big Chaseyyyyy”

his legal name may or may not be Mouse Chaser

Jackie sends legit every cat meme he sees to Chase

Chase considers it part of his duties to be Marvin’s wingman. but Marvin was too embarrassed to come out to anyone except Chase til he was like. twenty. and Chase just wanted so badly to hit on guys for him but he COULDN’T

Chase is like “don’t worry bro i’m straight enough for the both of us lol” and Marvin is like “ARE YOU” and Chase just... *sweats*

Chase and Marv sleep in the same bed as a cat and a person and Marvin really can’t sleep without him. Even when Chase was with Stacy Marvin just got other cats to sleep with haha. but none of them understood English or brought Marv breakfast in the morning so :(

On that note, Chase is VERY jealous of other cats cuddling with Marvin. that is HIS spot, you fluffy bastard

Marvin gets a little jealous of Chase letting himself be pet by other people too hahaha but Chase can’t help it!! Jackie’s lap is so warm and cat brain really wants scratches!!!

Sometimes Chase forgets he can’t talk as a cat and he’ll just race into the living room like “you will not BELIEVE what I just saw on the news” and all Marvin and Jackie hear is “MeOOWW YOW YOW” and they’re just like *nods attentively*

on a similar note the longer Chase spends in cat form the more he acts like a cat and Marvin refuses to ever reprimand him so sometimes Jackie just has to scoop him up and put him in the laundry room until he agrees to turn into a very grumpy and disoriented adult man

Familiar JJ probably looks like this and he is a VERY good boy who spends so little time being human and has been in human society so little he’s a little bit genuinely feral when he is human but again VERY sweet good boy:

Ooh okay so I learned a few weeks ago that purring is like a soothing thing too, like if they're stressed sometimes they'll purr to help calm themselves down, so what if JJ learns this and then after a while, sometimes, when Chase is this little cat all purring and ears back and he just carefully comes up to him and lies down next to him for comfort

human brain: aww poor guy :/ I should help him calm down, maybe sit with him a while, see if he wants a hug or to curl up together for a while

cat brain: this large dog is my kitten now i will can and must purr into his big dumb ears

Chase would totally be a comforting purring cat who wants to sit on everybody when they’re unhappy. and if they don’t perk up he will purr LOUDER and give them cat kisses and blink slow at them and keep them nice and warm.

but he also purrs when he’s sad to soothe himself!! and maybe Marvin and Jackie are busy or he just doesn’t want them right now and he feels useless and alone but JJ comes to find him and he speaks enough cat to see that he’s sad and he just comes to sit down with him and press their heads together and maybe even squoosh him a little bit

and also i’ve heard cats will purr if they’re sick sometimes as part of that same thing? so maybe JJ hears him purring and comes over to comfort him but then oh NO Chase is all dry nose raspy breathing coughing cat and JJ runs right off to get Marvin or he scoops Chase right up by the scruff and carries him to Marvin or his own nice warm dog bed. gotta look after his lil buddy. he is so smol <333

Anti trying to be clever and going after Chase in the familiar AU only to get his ass whooped by an utterly enraged Marvin lmao. Don’t touch his kitty!

in the meantime Chase is just trying to make friends with the odd little dog Anti owns because he is more scared of Anti than Jameson!!!

ahh but yes he totally would!! Marvin’s magic is much weaker when Chase isn’t around and he’d freak out if his cat-friend was taken, which could both work to Anti’s advantage if Marvin and Jackie weren’t going to find him and fuck him up for it. Marvin will burn that mf into the ground for this and you know what?? they’re taking JJ too!! fuck you Anti!!! it won’t be easy because Anti is a crazy powerful half-human magician who’s been heavily corrupted by black magic of his own volition and even attacking him with magic can cause the attacker to get injured, but they’re both determined. Jackie’s been promising since he was thirteen that if Marvin was going to be magical and live his whole life fighting because of it, he was going to learn to be just as much of a fighter to protect his brother with non-magical means. so Anti can maybe deal with meeting Marvin face-to-face without Chase there to make him stronger, but Jackie’s got his fucking hands and he’s ready to throw.

poor Chase probably gets stuck in a cat kennel in the meantime so he can’t shape-shift :( and no one is around to pet him or feed him treats :( which has almost never happened to him when he was a cat before :( and he just wants to go home and play Animal Crossing

also he’s as annoying as possible to Anti that cat can HOWL

edit: oh my gosh what if Anti just shows up to Marv’s house while he’s away and there’s just like five cats there and he doesn’t know which one is Chase so he has to take all of them

Could you imagine Chase and Jameson cuddling together? Jamie, being anxious so Chase helps him put a shirt on and turns into a cat and cuddles and 💕💕💕💕💕

AHHHH SO CUTE yesss this is what i’m talking about!! Jameson just gets this hot nice weight sitting on top of him and Chase purring in his ears and maybe if there’s no one around they groom each other a little and ignore the fact that maybe that’s a little strange haha. and probably when they are being goofy they play with balls and string and stuff together and Jackie and Marvin just live for it cause they’re sooo cute. mad likes on Instagram cause this cat and dog are best friends lol. Chase sometimes rides him around and they get matching little anxiety shirts kfjgndkgfd. when fireworks go off they both hide in Marvin or Jackie’s bed and hug each other and one time when Chase was feeling miserable JJ just picked him up by the scruff and carried him to bed hahaha. most of the time they just end up flopping onto each other or lying side by side with their little paws in the air sleeping

sometimes they cuddle up as humans too and Marvin will just come into his room to find the two of them buried under his covers just holding on to each other cause they had a really rough day and cat and dog brains just aren’t enough to cope with all that. or Jackie and Marvin fall asleep in the same room or bed and then it’s just all four of them animals or not curled up in a big pile warm and cozy and safe all together

Oooh now I'm wondering how he and Chase would react to each other, like are they spooked by each other, does JJ go up to him to try and see if he's a real cat or a familiar, if Chase is scared of him how long would that last??

oh my gosh that’s a great question i was just going back to that last post to add that Chase would curl up with him sometimes for cat and dog naps haha. but yes Chase would honestly be real nervous around him at first because he doesn’t much like dogs and what’s worse is I’m sure Anti would sic Jameson on him to go hunt him down if he and Marvin were ever in a fight. so now Chase has this memory of racing away from this snapping, barking dog and running up a tree to hide for hours until Marvin came to get him. cause JJ is a good boy and if Anti told him to get the cat, he tried his best. maybe Marvin even had to scare him off with some magic or something and he had to go running back to Anti knowing he was in trouble but wanting Anti to comfort him after he got spooked or hurt :(

so they would be very scared and nervous around each other for a while!! cause JJ functions mostly by dog hierarchy at this point and he knows Chase is higher in the pack than he is and he doesn’t want Marvin to hurt him if Chase doesn’t like him. but luckily Chase is more used to being human and he can shake off his anxiety enough to realize this is a scared little guy who could really use help and comfort right now instead of an equally scared cat swiping back at him. he was probably horrified when he realized JJ was a familiar and not just Anti’s dog!!! he’s a little more comfortable around dogs as a human so he tries to stay like that as a while, maybe a couple weeks, and just be nice to JJ like Jackie and Marvin. and Marvin helps JJ like sniff at him at first and then Chase tries petting him a little and over time they get more comfortable. and eventually they get to a point where maybe JJ’s really scared cause of a thunderstorm or something and Chase is the only one around so human Chase gets him in his little puppy shirt and then decides cats are better for comforting. that’s always how he comforted Marvin when he was sad, after all. and then it’s just the two of them curled up together and Chase lets him sit on the couch and they shed everywhere. and Chase is purring and maybe licking his ears a little and sitting on his back. and it’s cozy and nice and no one is ever mean to them.

oh my gosh can you imagine how excited they would all be to have him around... Jackie in particular would be like !!!!! dog AND friend??? THIS IS THE DREAM

he’d probably be uncomfortable being human for a while because he was never really allowed to except for every now and then when Anti needed more companionship so the others would just be spoiling this cute shy dog. and he deserves it. Jackie would be like his best bud, going for runs with him and giving him treats and just petting him for hours because that is the good texture hell yessssss. Chase gets over his little fear of him and just comes to sit on him sometimes as a cat and they curl up together all warm with Chase purring

and they get him like a big cozy dog bed and he drags it into Jackie’s room to sleep next to his bed once he gets over the feeling that he’s betraying Anti. and also he has one of those little dog shirts for anxiety skdjfnsdkgjs <333 and they hug him when he’s shaking
