Back at County after rehab, John Carter is determined to prove himself and stay sober. But when narcotics start disappearing and questions follow him everywhere, he begins to wonder: is he losing control, or is someone trying to make it look that way?

Paranoia grows, trust is tested, and the line between danger and suspicion blurs. Carter will have to navigate the ER, his colleagues, and his own fears — all while uncovering the truth before it’s too late.

County General people, I need your brains! (Not literally, no worries.)

Since my head lives in between six episodes of season 10 (iykyk) I’m a bit unsure of the timeline of some things in season 6/7. (lol, I’m a millennial, that numbers means nothing to me!!!)

I remember that either after coming back from rehab or a bit later after some sort of incident, he is not allowed to prescribe opioids to patients, hence probably has no access to the med carts if they had PIN codes or can’t get them from the pharmacy.

What I don’t remember is the minor major detail of: how do they access drugs of that class at County?

The ward I worked on (career hard launch, I worked in psych before pursuing and torturing myself with a PhD) had a special key for the med cupboard, the drugs were counted by two nurses at the start of each shift, and basically access worked bzw asking the right nurse for the key. If there were leftovers, they were wasted, and everything was done under four eyes. But this was 2020 onwards in an opioid crisis.

So, the big question for all you nerds: How exactly does the ER at County General handle this?

I know this is probably the most unimportant detail of the fic I’m re-working but I LOVE details.
