The past couple weeks had mixed together into one, continuous, blurred memory for Genji. This always happened around this time of the year; who could blame him for getting a bit depressed on the anniversary of getting banished from his own family? Then again, his life with them hadn’t exactly been peachy, either. The whole situation was fucked, but at least he was here now. Free. Well-- as free as an Omega can be.
Genji found himself more often than not at his local club, a noisy place saturated with bass-heavy music, wild hormones, and drunken decisions. A distraction, and he welcomed it. The place was only a few blocks from his city apartment, so he never had to worry about driving or paying for a cab, and it meant that when he chose some drooling Beta to take home, they didn’t have to walk far. Though, the alley outside the back exit had served just as well as his apartment on more than one occasion.
He rarely entertained the company of Alphas. Not since his sessions at home, his father’s twisted idea of “conditioning” him to repress his Omega nature. A load of bullshit. Alphas were too much work to deal with any other time than his heat, so Genji tended to stick to Betas. Other Omegas caught his eye, too, admittedly. They always tasted so sweet, and served a good purpose when Genji had a craving to just pound someone into a mattress.
At the club, Genji was just another Omega. No one knew him, so that meant no strings attached. The music pounded in his ears and drowned out the pleading voice of his conscience to find a wiser hobby. And if the music wasn’t loud enough, the fuzz of alcohol never failed to appease.
Tonight, Genji hadn’t yet reached the point of needing too much booze. The music was good, the crowd was rowdy, and the sweet smell of pheromones made the air hot and thick. His own heat wasn’t due for another week or so-- it was easy enough to locate the source of the smell. A pretty Omega in the back corner, dutifully tended to by three Alphas. Genji stared for a few moments before snorting and rolling his eyes. He silently wished the Omega luck in evading those Alphas in the future. Possessive, selfish assholes.
He heaved a sigh and leaned an elbow on the bar, resting his chin on his palm and scrolling idly through his phone. No one had really caught his attention yet, and he was contemplating just hooking up with one of his usual buddies, but something in the back of his mind told him to stick it out for a few minutes. So, he waited.
