Yo can u explain the post u made abt "episode 9" I'm a new carat so I have no clue what happened lmao
dhfkfj sorry i was being a bit vague on purpose bc I don't want to give spoilers for people who want to watch the show (which i honestly can't recommend enough but I'll talk about that a bit later). although most carats at least know about what happened with jun during cyzj so I guess maybe it doesn't matter dhfjfh this explanation is gonna be a bit long
so in 2018 jun and minghao went on a Chinese show called CYZJ with 8 other artists. The premise of the show is for the 10 contestants would be partnered up and do collaboration stages with each other. at the beginning they could collab with a different person for each stage, but eventually they had to choose one partner to stick with for the rest of the show.
juns permanent partner was pentagon's yanan, and they were really the best team they're honestly so sweet together 🥺 unfortunately though, yanan was having health issues at the time. at one point he took a break from the show but then came back, but in episode 9 he left again and it seemed like he wouldn't be able to come back :(
at this point, because jun and yanans team ranked highly on the previous stage, they were safe from elimination and secured a spot in the top 3. minghao's team and another team were up for elimination
before they could announce who would be eliminated, jun stepped in. apparently, because of the rules of the show the producers told jun he had to find another partner, and said he could pick from one of the already eliminated contestants to bring back.
but jun felt he should be loyal to yanan, so instead of picking a new partner, he forfeited his place in the top 3, making it so both of the team's up for elimination would move on. jun was still allowed to perform the remaining stages be prepared by himself, but he gave up his ability to win the show
it was honestly a really selfless and emotional moment. when he was talking to he fans, as a i referred to in my other post, he was assuring them that he would still perform
i really can't recommend this show enough though. theres a decent amount of carats who aren't Chinaline stans that haven't watched it, but I really encourage it even if you're not a Chinaline stan. there's some drama in it but it's also overall really enjoyable and you get to see sides of both minghao and (especially) jun that you seriously don't see anywhere else. even my friend who wasn't a carat at the time enjoyed watching it. plus there are some amazing stages (especially from jun but I may be biased dhfjfh)
also when I say this show shows a different side of jun i really do mean that like... i was literally a carat for a full year before this show came out and i was fully a seungkwan stan for that year, and this show made me appreciate jun in a different light to the point I became a jun stan. I'm not saying u have to or will want to become a jun stan after this if you're not already dhfkfj but like. my point is you can watch all the other svt content that exists and you won't see the same side of jun as you see on cyzj
Edit: I FORGOT BUT ANOTHER REASON TO WATCH CYZJ IS BC OF SAMUEL!! Since you're a new carat you may or may not know, but samuel used to be a trainee with seventeen, but he didn't end up debuting bc he was too young (he's an '02 liner, i believe it was his parents that pulled him but don't quote me on that). he's a sweet kid, and it was really nice to see him reunite with the boys :') i don't think he knew minghao that well if at all since mh joined Pledis late, but jun used to treat samuel like a little brother 🥺
