scent of the day: morozko (fantôme)

i was surprised at how exactly, on first spray, this smelled like the waiting room of the dentist i used to go to when i was an ungainly teenager with braces. my brain almost fabricates a colourful rubber note to go with the initial wafts, filling in the gaps of that scent memory.

fragrantica is missing the peppermint note, which is really the main star of the top notes. it's a sterile and astringent peppermint, leaning on a wood-ish, medicinal undercurrent that will be familiar if you've ever had birch juice. the vanilla that warms up on the skin over time is like coming in from the cold wind to a warm, lightly spiced blanket. it's sweeter than the opening, but not excessively so. very unisex in my opinion, and i imagine it would be fantastic in the early days of winter. overall an unusual and fascinating scent, although it is a bit specific in the atmosphere it conjures for me to wear as a signature scent.
