Kusu considered this for a moment, thinking of the times he’d spent in Shinjuku, remembering the children dressed like a flock of tropical birds, wearing kimono over petticoats and Doc Martins, tulle and silk drifting in the breeze, hair dyed every color of the rainbow, flaunting their fashions nearly more outlandish than his. “Appearances... can be deceiving. I am just a traveling medicine seller.“
He glanced over at his companion questioningly. Surely he could tell Kusu was not something to be approached lightly. He seemed old, old enough to know better. Kusu himself was quite young in the grand scheme of things, barely over 300 but the god that lived inside him was significantly older, and he bristled at the inhuman aura that saturated the warm night air. What did this man want that made him tempt fate so casually?
